The nation’s largest live period event during the second NCAA live session was Prep Hoops Live across the Kansas City and Lawrence area. Here we examine the big men that stood out most to us in Prep Hoops Live: Scotty B’s Top Big Men!

Trey’Dez Green (LA Broncos 16U)

Green was the top post at the event. The 2024 power forward from Louisiana has so much to work with on both ends. Great size, strength, and athleticism. The lefty loves to go to his hook shot along with power moves in the post going up through his man along with utilizing spin moves. Stretched it out in one game hitting several threes in a half. Really like how he can take it off the defensive glass and start the break often going coast to coast. Plus rebounder that snatches them in traffic and is a quality shot blocker. High-major post.

Mason Jones (Team GRIII 17U)

Jones had an outstanding opening night with Team GRIII to begin the second live period. Face up four worked well in the mid-range with his jumper and putting it on the deck for an array of finishes including euro steps. Finished dump offs inside. Was a versatile defender recording multiple steals in the game we saw. Looks like low-major value.

Dallas Bear (Iowa Barnstormers 17U)

Bear was the best 2023 post at the event. He was phenomenal across the board at 6’8” in all the games he played. He is at his best working in the 15-18 foot range putting it on the deck a couple times and using his long strides to score in the lane. Mixed in a mid-range jumper and an array of hook shots. Efficient scorer that can handle it well at his size. High-major to mid-major plus prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1285496" first="Jason" last="Jakstys"] (Basketball Paradise 16U)

Super intrigued with where this Yorkville five man from Illinois’ game is headed. At 6’9” he has broad shoulders and a frame that he can definitely add significant strength. Such a natural shot blocking presence that swats shots and uses his mobility to defend in space on the perimeter. Offensively he has excellent footwork on the block along with being able to handle it facing up. Mid-major target!

Kamron Coleman (OWE 17U)

Coleman is a long and thin five man who was an effective rebounder. Got on the offensive glass for multiple put backs and has the athleticism to continue to improve once he adds strength.

Alex Sherwood (Wisconsin Crusaders 17U)

Skilled four man that is most effective facing up. Passes well to cutters and shooters. Feathery jumper that he likes to hit from the baseline.

Hasani Rivera (Florida Suns 17U)

Well built five man that has a thick body. Mauls on the offensive glass for second chance points. Finished when running the floor in transition and as a dive threat. Biggest value is as a rebounder.

Ryan Kelly (NEBC 17U)

Stretch four that can really shoot the rock. He brings value as a spot up shooter and that is exactly what he did for NEBC in their finale.

Declan Ryan (NEBC 17U)

Thick bodied center that is very skilled. Crafty low post scorer that has a go to hook shot. Rebounds well in his area and can really pass it for a big man!
