Continue ReadingElite prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) have begun the annual ritual of transferring high schools. Here in 2022, we do not anticipate the number of transfers to be overwhelming like the pandemic influenced off seasons of the past two years. However, we still expect there will be a host of extremely talented players who switch schools this spring/summer.
At Prephoops.com we will do our best to track all the player movements and pass that information on to our readers.
Below is the first installment in our 2022 Transfer Watch series.
Anthony Finkley Anthony Finkley 6'6" | SF Roman Catholic | 2023 State PA – 6’6” / Junior / Roman Catholic / K-Low Elite / Wing: One of the most unique prospects in the area is home again. Finkley enrolled at Roman in January but did not receive clearance to compete in games this past season for Roman (6A state champions). Finkley (formerly of Huntington Prep in West Virginia & West Catholic) is an extremely versatile and athletic baller. He owns good handles, excellent court vision / passing skills and he can drain the 3-ball. Those skills allow Finkley to excel in a hybrid point-forward role, making him an intriguing prospect for college coaches. On the interior, Finkley’s length and smooth footwork allow him to score from either block. Finkley holds several DI offers.
Jamel Lindsey Jamel Lindsey 6'6" | SF Holy Ghost Prep | 2023 State PA – 6’6” / Sophomore / Abraham Lincoln / Philly Pride National / Wing: Lindsey is an athletic scoring wing prospect who competes on every possession at both ends of the floor. This past season he posted 17 points and 9 rebounds per game at Holy Ghost Prep (PA). For college coaches his most attractive asset may be his ability to play as a stretch-4 (Shot 44% on threes this past winter.). Lindsey is a fearless kid who plays with a bit of an edge. His wingspan and hops enable him to be a force on the defensive and offensive glass.
Lance Piper – 6’6” / Freshman / Phelps School / NY Jayhawks / Wing: The Phelps School tradition of reloading its roster with transfers continues in 2022 as the Lions add this former Sachem East (NY) standout. In addition to transferring, Piper will reclass into the 2025 graduation year. This wiry, scoring wing prospect owns textbook shooting mechanics and strokes the 3-ball at a high clip. During the 2021-22 season Piper posted multiple games of 5 or more triples. Piper’s size, quickness, skill set, and athleticism enable him to play multiple positions. Last season Piper averaged 14.4 points per game. He scored a season high 26 points vs. Riverhead (NY).
Brody Robinson – 5’11” / Junior / Phelps School / JL3 EYBL / Point Guard: The talent rich Phelps roster gets even deeper with the addition of Robinson (formerly of Houston Christian in TX) who was a Southwest Preparatory Conference All-Conference selection after the 2021-22 season. Robinson can play the role of a scoring or a distributing point guard. When in scoring mode, he will drain threes and scores off ball screens. As a distributor he especially adept at getting into the paint, drawing defenders, and then dishing to a waiting big. He is also a solid pick-n-roll operator. This past season Robinson was good for 19 points per night. Robinson will reclass into the 2023 graduate year.
