Continue ReadingThis group will be one of the top 16U teams in North Dakota. A majority of this team played together last AAU season and they added some very nice players. Attack is loaded with shooters and I expect them to have a potent offense. ND Attack 16U Black will be playing in the Sanford Pentagon League where they will go up against stiff competition game in and game out. Another highlight of their schedule will be the Battle at the Lakes in Minneapolis (May 6-8). I am excited to watch them in that fun event. This Attack team has 5 Class B players and 3 Class A players, all from the eastern side of North Dakota. They will get their season started next weekend in St Cloud. Landon Foster and Travis Moser will be coaching this talented team. Look out for ND Attack 16U Black!

Comments from coach Moser
Cole Holzer Cole Holzer 6'7" | PF Central Cass | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-6 F| Central Cass
Holzer is one of the most deceiving players I got to watch this season. With his 6’6″ frame it would appear he would live in the paint as a dominant post player, but this athlete will not only hurt teams in the paint, he can absolutely shoot from the outside. Holzer causes many problems for the opposing team’s defense. He is smooth and crafty when attacking the hole, and he can pull up from anywhere on the court in transition. He has a soft touch for his midrange shot, making him a real problematic athlete to defend. He will no doubt be a “go-to” player for Central Cass in the next couple of years and has the potential to be one of the most dominant players in Region 1.
Landon Moser Landon Moser 6'1" | PG Northern Cass | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-1 G| Northern Cass
Moser had a fantastic Sophomore season with Northern Cass High School. He was surrounded by 8 talented Seniors and worked his way into their starting lineup due to his strong work ethic. Moser is known to be a tenacious defender and was one of the “go-to” guys to guard the opposing team’s best shooters. Moser can find a way to get to the rim and finish. He really improved his long-range shooting capabilities. Moser was an instrumental part of the Jaguars team while making over 180 three-pointers this season.
Brycen Hoffer (2024) |6-2 G| WF Sheyenne
Hoffer is going to be the player on this team that can really put us ahead at crucial times in the game. Hoffer extends the court with his outside shooting. He will be the athlete we look to penetrate and kick to on offense. Hoffer is going to be the one athlete that other teams will not account for until it is too late. Hoffer competes against some top-notch talent at Sheyenne High School, and we are confident he is going to play right into this team’s philosophy.
Keyton McGregor Keyton McGregor 6'1" | SG West Fargo | 2024 ND (2024)|6-1 G| West Fargo
McGregor really showed improvements in all aspects of his game his Sophomore year. He has always been known to be a phenomenal defender with his “in your face” style of play. McGregor is not the biggest athlete on the floor, but he loves to get into the paint and grab rebounds. McGregor’s offensive game exploded this year with West Fargo High School, as he became a huge offensive threat scoring almost 30 points in a game.
Carter Vrchota Carter Vrchota 6'1" | SG Central Cass | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-1 G| Central Cass
This Sophomore really came out of his shell this year as a starter for Central Cass High School. Vrchota might have some of the quickest hands on defense in Region 1. He caused all sorts of problems for teams this year by deflecting passes and making it tough for guards to run the offense. Vrchota has a sneaky way of getting to the rim, and he can absolutely hurt teams with his outside shooting. Vrchota was an instrumental part of the Squirrel’s offense and went off for over 30 points in a game.
Luke Martinson Luke Martinson 6'4" | PF Sargent County | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-4 F| Sargent County
This Bulldog was the star for Sergeant County this year. Martinson went off for over 30 points in the Barnes County Tournament. Martinson can play any position on the court. When he gets hot he can absolutely destroy teams from the outside. Martinson is a deceivingly strong athlete and has no issues taking players into the paint. Martinson always knows how to move himself to get into position to grab rebounds. Martinson will continue to be a star and will be the “go-to” player for the Bulldogs in the next couple of years.
Tony Leal Tony Leal 6'5" | PF West Fargo | 2024 ND (2024) |6-4 F| West Fargo
Leal will be one of the biggest, strongest, most athletic kids on the court this summer. Leal is an absolute problem in the paint for teams on offense and defense with his rebounding capabilities. Leal can also shoot from the outside making him a real problem for other teams. Leal worked his way onto the Varsity team for West Fargo High School this season. Leal fought some injuries throughout the season, but he is back and healthy and will be a huge part of this team’s success.
Jacob Nitschke Jacob Nitschke 6'5" | PF Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-4 F| Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier
Nitschke went from being a role player for EKM when they made their championship run in 2021 to an instrumental part of their team his Sophomore year. Nitschke is a tall strong athlete that is not afraid to attack the rim and he can hurt teams by extending the floor with his outside shooting. Nitschke has great vision, and for a “big guy” can find his teammates and make outstanding passes. Nitschke will no doubt be a “go-to” player next year for EKM, and we will look for him to be that “X” factor player for us this AAU season.
Max Musland Max Musland 6'4" | SG LaMoure-Litchville/Marion | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-3 G| LaMoure-Litchville/Marion
WOW! That is about all I can say about this athlete. This Loboe had an absolutely superb season for LLM. Musland was no doubt a huge reason for their success in taking 3rd place in the State Tournament, being player of the game in the opening round. Musland is long and lanky. He has quick hands and his tall long frame causes all sorts of problems for other teams offensively and defensively. Musland has a nice touch in the paint and can come down and hit multiple threes in a row to change the momentum of a game in a heartbeat. Musland was a standout Sophomore athlete in the state this year in Class B basketball.
Q & A with coach Travis Moser
PHD: When looking at your roster, what style of play do envision your team to play?
Coach Moser: “We envision this team to play fast pace basketball on the offensive end. Every player on this team can run the court, fill lanes, and score in transition. We expect to be known as a fast transition team, other teams will have to get back and play good transition defense to stop us. On the defensive end, we will have some tenacity. Our guards are well known for causing all sorts of problems for opposing teams. Opposing teams may struggle to get into their offense. Our bigs are beasts on the boards and they do not allow too many second-chance points. Teams will have to be very efficient to be successful against this group of athletes.“
PHD: What will be some of your “team strengths”?
Coach Moser: “These boys have played together and against each other at different points throughout their careers. They also get along on and off the court very well. These two factors will embrace good teamwork and these boys will work for each other. There is not a single player on this team that is only playing for themself, they all play for each other and hold each other accountable.“
PHD: What are a few things that you hope your players will get out of playing with ND Attack?
Coach Moser: “As far as what I hope all these athletes take away from playing for ND Attack, is not only to better their game but to have a positive experience and to make their bond as friends stronger. ND Attack is not just about showcasing kids or a certain player, they are about getting good competitive athletes on the court to help these kids grow as basketball players and young adults, by learning failures and having success.“
PHD: What are you most excited for in the 2022 AAU season?
Coach Moser: “What excites me most about this group is, this will be the first time for some of these athletes to not have a dad or a “buddy’s” dad as their coach. I am excited to see what Coach Landen Foster can do for these boys and how he will relate to them being he is an energetic enthusiastic young coach, that no doubt will push them and help them develop their game even further.“
PHD: Who are a couple of “under the radar” players on your roster and why?
Coach Moser: “I feel the two “under the radar” players on this team are Brycen Hoffer from Sheyenne High School and Jacob Nitschke Jacob Nitschke 6'5" | PF Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier | 2024 State ND from EKM. I have had the opportunity to watch Brycen play over the years and he may not be the fastest kid on the court but, he can extend the court very well with his outside shooting. If he gets hot…LOOK OUT! Brycen also shares the ball well and can hit some dagger shots at the end of the game. Jake had a very successful AAU season with this team last year. In most games, he was a role player scoring eight to twelve points per game and grabbing a handful of rebounds. This year Jake got some good varsity time playing for EKM and had a great Sophomore season. I think he is a kid that can also extend the court for us with his size and outside shooting, but we also look for him to be more of a problem for other teams in the paint and on the boards. Jake has great vision when it comes to passing the ball and that is always a plus to have with one of your bigs.“
