Region 5 MVP

6’3 G [player_tooltip player_id="934027" first="Mason" last="Bendinger"] || Woods Cross High School || 2023 ||

Mason was probably a defensive nightmare to adjust for as he was able to simply get to his spots when he wanted. Really impressive on the blocks and mid-post with his back to the basket. He has a level of confidence that really developed over the past year and a half as he was not hesitating on many shots. Mason has a solid all-around game and he would attract multiple defenders and make the right read which led to other players on his team scoring at a high clip as well.

Region 6 MVP

6’9 PF/C [player_tooltip player_id="934490" first="Jack" last="Wistrcill"] || Olympus High School || 2022 ||

Jack was by far the most dominant player in region play and arguably in the state. not only did he see various coverages and multiple defenders. With his back to the basket he was tough as he could go over each shoulder and if he is deep in the paint it is almost automatic. Jack was also a solid trail man as he could stop and pop, which also includes him in pick n’ pop situations as he could nail those deep balls. Defensively Jack was a wall as he protected the paint and held his own on switches.

Region 7 MVP

6’1 W Logan Richins || Stansbury High School || 2022 ||

Logan was one of the most productive guards in the entire 5A classification. Logan was almost pulling down double-doubles on the daily. With 14 double0doubles on the year Logan was really a tough cover and he was out there competing every night. He was a junkyard dog when he needed to be but he was also skilled in various aspects of the game. He was good to hit a few three’s here and there but he would do most of his damage inside the three-point line.

Region 8 MVP

6’8 SF [player_tooltip player_id="967725" first="Jaxon" last="Heiden"] || Alta High School || 2022 ||

Region 8 was really balanced when it came to star power and great play. Jaxon was able to score the ball and see the floor at a high level. He was an above the rim player that could also stretch the floor. With his size he was able to defend almost every position. Jaxon has a very underrated skill as he sees the floor makes some elite passes. Jaxon was one of the reasons Alta was able to revive their program as he was solid on both ends of the floor. Defensively he could also alter shots.

Region 9 MVP

6’1 G [player_tooltip player_id="1201682" first="Jake" last="Nadauld"] || Springville High School || 2022 ||

Not many players end their careers on a 50 point night. Jake was that player that often times took it upon himself to get it going when his team couldn’t or didn’t. Jake was a scoring guard and he would do it in many ways. He could score from the outside, on pull-ups and on driving to the basket. Jake averaged 22 PPG. Jake scored in double-figures in every game and was stellar in region play.
