<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On March 2nd, Evans and Gibsland-Coleman met with a birth in the class C semifinals on the line. The game was tight in the first half with Gibsland-Coleman taking an eight point lead into the half. In the second half, the Bulldog defense suffocated Evans as they outscored them 31-21 in route to a 62-44 quarterfinal victory. There were some standout players for each team during the game. In this PHLA review, we will take a look at the top performers from each school.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1376919" first="Dontarious" last="Coleman"] (6’4" - 2022) </strong></p> <p>Coleman was a dominant inside presence for the Bulldogs during the win.  He is very good at posting against smaller players in the paint and has a nice right-handed jump hook.  His timing on blocking shots is exceptional also.  After he blocks the shot, he does an excellent job of gathering them as well.  Coleman is also very athletic and changes ends very well.  While he is used to playing in the paint on this level, Coleman has some attributes that would allow him to be a good forward on the next level.  </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1213567" first="Terrance" last="James"] (6’4" - 2023)</strong></p> <p>James is one of the more impressive players that I have seen this season.  The 6’3" wing has some impressive hops and showed them when he snatched a shot out of the air instead of blocking it into the bleachers.  In transition, he went up and got a couple of alley=oops with one of them being an emphatic throw down.  James is very smooth with the ball when he has it in the open floor.  He displayed the ability to evade defenders for layups and to make the right pass in transition.  His freakish athletic ability will be an asset for Gibsland-Coleman at Marsh Madness.  </p> <p><strong>Rictavious Harris (5’7" - 2023)</strong></p> <p>The miniature Bulldog guard was lethal from three point land scoring 15 first half points.  Harris has a long delivery as he crouches before he elevates for his shot.  However, he has wonderful rotation on his shot.  His shots were key in keeping Evans at bay after they made a 1st half push.  His willingness and ability to make the three will go a long way in helping the Bulldogs be successful on their trip to Lake Charles.  </p> <p><strong>Zane West (5’10" - 2022)</strong></p> <p>West did not get an abundance of opportunities to show his talent on the floor during the loss to Gibsland-Coleman.  However, there is plenty to like about the 5’10" guard.  He has a sweet stroke from deep which was seen during Evans final push on Wednesday.  He nailed two bombs from 24 feet with a smooth, effortless stroke.  West also showed the willingness to rebound as a guard.  He has a high basketball IQ and is a very willing passer.  I would have liked to see him be more aggressive.  He definitely has the basketball IQ to effect a game in a positive way.</p> <p><strong>Wyatt Austin (5’11" - 2022)</strong></p> <p>Austin was a player who attacked the Gibsland-Coleman defense in various ways on Wednesday.  The undersized post was active from elbow and attacked with his varied offensive arsenal.  He made mid-range jumpers, he backed taller defenders down, and attacked them off the dribble as well.  For someone his height, he really knows how to attack a defense.  His play was definitely one of the reasons Evans made it to the quarterfinals.  Austin capped off team high 16 point night with a three pointer.  He definitely has an expanded offensive game and uses it well.  </p> <p>Gibsland-Coleman waits to play the winner of the Hornbeck-Phoenix contest.  Their athleticism will make them a tough out for anyone they play in Lake Charles.  From their home win, they definitely have three players who can do major damage on the offensive end.   </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->

Dontarious Coleman Dontarious Coleman 6'4" | SF Gibsland-Coleman | 2022 State LA (6’4" - 2022)

Coleman was a dominant inside presence for the Bulldogs during the win.

Terrance James Terrance James 6'4" | SF Gibsland-Coleman | 2023 State LA (6’4" - 2023)

James is one of the more impressive players that I have seen this season.

Rictavious Harris (5’7" - 2023)

The miniature Bulldog guard was lethal from three point land scoring 15 first half points.

Zane West (5’10" - 2022)

West did not get an abundance of opportunities to show his talent on the floor during the loss to Gibsland-Coleman. He definitely has the basketball IQ to effect a game in a positive way.

Wyatt Austin (5’11" - 2022)

Austin was a player who attacked the Gibsland-Coleman defense in various ways on Wednesday.

Gibsland-Coleman waits to play the winner of the Hornbeck-Phoenix contest.  Their athleticism will make them a tough out for anyone they play in Lake Charles.  From their home win, they definitely have three players who can do major damage on the offensive end.
