Continue ReadingThe state tournament is only four days away and it is full of excitement with 2022 being the last year of the Tournament of Champions. Group 3 is an intriguing group as it has a couple of teams capable of making noise in the playoffs. Here are the Group 3 duos set to have big runs in the state tournament.
Savion Pressley & Billy Anderson Billy Anderson 6'7" | PF Colonia | 2022 State NJ , Colonia
The Patriots are fresh off a big win over St. Joe’s Metuchen in the GMC semifinals and should carry over their play into the state tournament behind their senior leader. Pressley is a lightning quick lead guard who is capable of scoring points in bunches. Anderson is a gritty post player who can finish around the basket and sky for rebounds at both ends of the floor. They both make plays on the defensive end as Pressley has quick hands, while Anderson uses his size to alter shots around the rim. Pressley and Anderson are looking to close out their varsity careers on a high note as they should have a big North Jersey Section 2 Group 3 state run.
Darius Adams & Ryan Frauenheim Ryan Frauenheim 5'10" | PG Manasquan | 2024 State NJ , Manasquan
The Warriors may have moved up into Group 3 since 2020, but they have a young backcourt duo capable of making noise. Adams is a skilled guard prospect who can score at all three levels and has a nice touch on his floater. Frauenheim is a smart floor general who does not force the issue in the half court and runs the offense efficiently. The sophomore guard is also a pesky, on-ball defender and shoots the ball with confidence from behind the arc. Adams and Frauenheim play with good chemistry, making Manasquan a dangerous team in Central Jersey Group 3.
Peyton Seals Peyton Seals 6'4" | SG Ramapo | 2024 State NJ & Wyatt Ellington-Manner, Ramapo
The Raiders have had a strong 2021-22 season and are looking to end it on a high note with a deep postseason run. Seals is the go-to guy on offense as he is a crafty finisher around the basket and has a smooth release on his jumper. Ellington-Manner has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane and finish around the basket. Both players are strong rebounders and are solid passers in the half court. Seals and Ellington-Manner may only be sophomores, but they are ready for a big state tournament run for Ramapo.
Cameron Downs Cameron Downs 6'4" | SF Pemberton | 2022 State NJ & Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 5'10" | PG Pemberton | 2022 State NJ , Pemberton
The Hornets are one of the hottest teams in South Jersey Group 3 as they have won nine straight games and are looking to carry over their success into the state tournament. Downs has been a load down low as he finishes strong around the basket and draws contact with consistency. The 6’4 forward is tough to box out on both ends of the floor and is capable of getting deflection on the defensive end. Lomax runs the offense effectively as he is not rattled by on-ball pressure and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. Downs and Lomax work well together, which makes them a dangerous team to watch in the state tournament.
David Gheysens & Nick DiMarino, Moorestown
The Quakers are the reigning Group 3 champions and are looking to retain their title. Gheysens is a sniper from distance as he has a nice shooting stroke and can get hot in a hurry. DiMarino is a tough guard prospect who can finish around the basket and does not mind drawing contact. Both prospects are solid defenders and work hard on the glass at both ends of the floor. DiMarino and Gheysens have been leading Moorestown’s offense throughout the year and it should continue in the state tournament.

Maurice Crump & Jordan Poole Jordan Poole 5'11" | PG Burlington Township | 2023 State NJ , Burlington Township
