Well, welcome to ‘My Notebook,’ where I will share my notes from this season. Here are a few players I took notes on at the #HuntsvilleClassic.
Caleb Harrison (6’8/Power Forward/2024)
School: Huntsville HS
Instagram: caleb_harrison23
Twitter: @_Caleb_Harrison
Caleb was a force on the low block. His energy was contagious as his crew played in front of their home crowd during the #HunstsvilleClassic. He worked hard to establish post position and was very comfortable and confident working off the low block. He has a nice over-the-left shoulder hook that was difficult to contest. His length was a factor on the boards as he was extremely mobile in tracking missed shots. He did a nice job contesting and altering shots.
Caleb is just a sophomore and is one of the most skilled post players I have seen all season.
He can catch on the move without shuffling his feet and finish with either hand in the paint. Over the next two years, as he continues to expand his game outside the paint, get stronger, continue working on his balance and footwork, his upside is huge. His stat line from the match-up against Spanish Fort was: 10pts (4-8, 50% from the field), 7-rebounds, and 2-blocks.
Jailen Holmes (6’0/Combo Guard/2022)
School: Madison Academy

Twitter: @Jholmes_2
Make no mistake about it Jailen wants to get to the rim. He has a determination to attack off the bounce like I haven’t seen this season. He knows what to do when he gets to the paint off the bounce as he finishes strong at the rim. He has a creative knack for scoring the rock, and when he gets going downhill, he is attacking with purpose. He made some difficult shots in the match-up against Lee HS, and he made tough shots through contact.
Defensively he has a willingness to defend on and off the ball and has good instincts, as he racked up 3-steals during the game.
At the end of the day, to put it simply, Jailen is at his best when he is in transition and slashing to the rim in the half-court to score. The pressure he puts on his defenders off the bounce creates fouls that Jailen uses to get to the charity stripe. His stat line against Lee was: 11pts (3-6, 50% from the field; 5-6, 83% from the line).

Deavious is a player for Lee that does a lot that impacts winning. He is the type of player who does whatever is needed of him to win. Offensively, the strength of his game is getting to the rack off the bounce. He gets downhill quick and is not stopping until he gets to his spot. His game draws fouls and gets him to the line. He is a dependable scoring option because of his size against smaller guards and quickness against bigger forwards. Defensively, with his size, he flies around the court and can do a little bit of everything.
His versatility allows him to guard on the perimeter and in the post.
There is no denying D’s production and importance to his team. He will be a key factor to post-season success for Lee. His stat line against Madison Academy was 13pts (4-10, 40% from the field).

Tomar has a mature game at the lead guard spot. He is a playmaker who got his teammates in the game’s flow and got the ball into the right hands at the right times. He is a highly productive and impactful floor general. Even though Tomar had an assist to turnover ratio of 5 to 5, his judgment is not something to call into question. He is an experienced player that is tough to guard one on one. He pushes the rock hard in transition and has good court vision, which is evident in his ability to find seams and get to the rim.
Much of what Tomar accomplishes on both ends of the court is owed to his experience and frenetic energy.
Defensively he plays with active hands as he racked up 4-steals in the game against James Clemens. Tomar also doesn’t mind mixing it up in the paint on the glass. Tomar finished the game against James Clemens with 9pts (2-4, 50% from the field).
John Broom John Broom 6'5" | SG Jacksonville | 2023 State AL (6’5/Forward/2023)
School: Jacksonville HS

This athletic lefty was a force to be reckoned with on the offensive end of the floor. He has good size and has versatility on both ends of the floor. He got in done in a variety of ways as he often got out in transition taking direct paths to the cup, he posted smaller guards, and he shot it well from behind the arc. His scoring package was on full display at the #HunstvilleClassic, and he kept his team in the game going down the stretch.
John is a scoring threat whenever the ball touches his hands, and he is prolific in every facet as a full-time offensive engine.
He impacted the game in many aspects, as he was tough on the glass, created turnovers on the defensive end of the floor, and contested shots in the paint. JB’s stock is increasing, and he is a key piece to his squad that has the potential and the talent to make a deep run in the playoffs. His stats from the match-up against Hazel Green was: 17pts (7-12, 58%; 3-4, 75% from behind the arc), 11-rebounds, and 3-steals.
Check back soon as I am going to drop a few more players from My Notebook in the next 24 hours.
