Today I ran by Minnesota Scores and thought "I wonder who is statistically (basic stat) playing the best D" in Minnesota? Here is a top five group from each Class with a few comments.

Now, if your team plays great defense but you play the toughest schedule out there I understand why you think you should be listed and we should do this in a different way. But then again, when I think of those teams, those are the teams that are already getting a lot of pub so guys, you will be fine.

Class AAAA

Spring Lake Park (50.4 allowed per game). It should surprise nobody that Grant Guzy’s team is playing great D. They’ve played some really good teams too.

Mounds View (54.1). This is an 8-2 team that has allowed only Spring Lake Park and Mahtomedi over 60 points in a game.

Buffalo (54.3). Elk River is the only team that’s given Buffalo a game. They are undefeated and the defense is a big reason why.

Park of Cottage Grove (54.5). How has Park been able to play so well with [player_tooltip player_id="958715" first="Pharrel" last="Payne"] out and [player_tooltip player_id="1143877" first="Jamari" last="Walker"] missing time? Defense.

White Bear Lake (56.9).

Class AAA

Red Wing (46.6). A big reason Red Wing has turned things around, defense. The best points per game allowed total in big school basketball

Mankato West (49.1). Another Big Nine team that defends, the top ten ranked Scarlets.

Stewartville (51). The Tigers lost Will Tschetter to the college level but are still 7-3. Why? Defense.

Hutchinson (51.6).

Alexandria (52.1).

Class AA

Maple River (43.1). Maple River is a top ten level team in Class AA and their defense is a big part of it.

St. Clair (43.6). St. Clair has moved up to Class AA and it looks like their D will make them a contender.

Lewiston-Altura (43.9). Lewiston-Altura is an undefeated team winning games by a running time margin average (35 points a game).

Sauk Centre (44).

West Central (44.2).

Class A

Liberty Classical Academy (31). In terms of points a game Liberty has the best numbers in the state (5-0 team).

Martin County West (39). Martin County West is 8-0 winning games by 21 points a night.

Rushford-Peterson (40.1). The Trojans are 6-2 this year and playing great D.

Spring Grove (40.2)

Goodhue (45.6).
