The holiday break seems like as good a time as any to update the player rankings, so we went ahead and updated the 2022 rankings to kick things off. Below we take a look at 10 of the players who made the biggest moves in the updated 2022 rankings!

[player_tooltip player_id="682278" first="Trey" last="Lewis"] | PG | Johnston
The move: 10 to 4

The 5-10 lead guard has been absolutely dominant so far this season for the Dragons, averaging 24.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.9 steals. Armed with a tight handle and limitless range, he's nearly impossible to defend with his ability to get to the rim or pull up from 30 feet and bury 3-pointers at a high clip. Size has always been the concern with Lewis, but he has put a lot of work in and gotten stronger, which has allowed him to become a fantastic rebounder from his guard spot as well. An athletic guard who handles it, distributes, and can score at will, Lewis has worked his way into the top-5 in a strong 2022 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="682280" first="Lucas" last="Lorenzen"] | SF | Okoboji
The move: 22 to 16

No player in the state has had a more dominating start to the year than Lorenzen, who is averaging 35.4 points and 14.1 rebounds a game. His 81 free-throw attempts lead the state by 12, and he's played in fewer games than a majority of the players who trail him. A 6-7 wing who can score from all three levels, dominate the glass, and switch defensively, he'll be a high-level player for Dordt the next four years.

[player_tooltip player_id="962642" first="Jaxson" last="Young"] | SG | Linn-Mar
The move: 35 to 22

An athletic, slashing 6-2 off-ball guard, Young is averaging 16.4 points a game for the Lions so far this season. He can get to the rim seemingly at will, has a solid mid-range game, and has the lateral quickness and hands to be a strong on-ball defender. He has made an impact on the defensive end so far this season, swiping 2.4 steals a game.

[player_tooltip player_id="962644" first="Kasen" last="Bailey"] | SG | Washington
The move: 43 to 25

A long and athletic wing who can get to the rim and finish over defenders, Bailey's upward climb has been accelerated by his increased playmaking abilities. He's averaging 5.0 assists a game and shooting 40% from the arc, and when you combine that improved playmaking with his shooting, size, and athleticism, you have a solid college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="962635" first="Jake" last="Walter"] | SG | Prairie
The move: 45 to 35

A solid three-level scorer, Walter has solid length and quickness that he uses to get to the rim for finishes. He's a good on-ball defender and solid playmaker who is equally adept at getting others involved or creating his own shot.

[player_tooltip player_id="962646" first="Maddox" last="Griffin"] | PG | Wapello
The move: 48 to 36

Few players in the state stuff the stat sheet like the 6-3 lead guard does, averaging 18.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 4.0 steals a game. He's a smart guard who doesn't force anything, and while Wapello hasn't been as successful this year with heavy personnel losses, Griffin makes them dangerous on any given night. He has committed to play his college ball at Upper Iowa.

[player_tooltip player_id="682288" first="Jacob" last="Runyan"] | PG | Dallas Center-Grimes
The move: 73 to 40

Runyan transferred to DCG from Johnston and has been a standout as the primary ball-handler for the Mustangs, posting an assist-to-turnover ratio of better than 5-to-1 and shooting over 47% from behind the arc. A high IQ guard who handles it and sees the floor extremely well, he does a fantastic job limiting turnovers and scoring when the opportunity presents itself.

[player_tooltip player_id="682267" first="Ryan" last="Dolphin"] | PG | Pleasant Valley
The move: 64 to 41

The Spartans are off to a strong 7-0 start, and Dolphin has been the biggest reason why averaging 17.3 points and 3.0 assists a game while shooting over 45% from behind the arc. Despite being listed at just 5-8, he's a tough, athletic guard who is equally comfortable attacking the rim or pulling up from 3, and he's a strong on-ball defender who moves his feet and has quick hands. A high IQ guard who uses that intelligence to help make up for some of the lack of size, he'll be a solid lead guard at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1158434" first="Jackson" last="Bowman"] | PF | Kennedy
The move: 63 to 42

An athletic 6-7 forward who runs the floor, finishes around the rim at a high clip, and has shown the ability to stretch the floor this year, Bowman makes a leap of over 20 spots. He's a versatile defender who can switch onto smaller players without getting lost, and he's emerging as a strong offensive weapon for the Cougars after shaking off an early-season injury.

[player_tooltip player_id="1158420" first="Wyatt" last="Helming"] | PF | Lake Mills
The move: 65 to 49

Helming makes a move up in large part because of his defensive versatility. A 6-7 forward who can protect the rim (3.4 blocks a game) and get in passing lanes (2.1 steals), he has the size, length, and enough quickness to be a solid switchable defender at the next level. He has been highly efficient offensively as well, averaging 19.3 points on 61-41-70 shooting splits. He can take smaller defenders down onto the block and score, or take bigger defenders out to the arc and can by them or splash 3s.
