Who are the leaders on this team?
Rico Sain, Jaylan Cole, Ward.
Made it to the state championship game last year. Is that the goal this year?
It is always an expectation. We try to do it to help our kids get to the next level and to help us to establish ourselves as a program as one of the best in West Tennessee.
Do you agree that your program, while extremely successful in the last five years, is often still overlooked?
That is always the case. We have a great program down there in Jackson and we come down to Memphis and play well against these Memphis schools and a lot of times we just get overlooked. But we are not pointing fingers at anybody. Just hoping we get a little recognition sometimes for a good brand of basketball.
I love the defensive intensity with which you always manage to play. Does this team this year have the same style of play?
Sometimes we change it up. We try to do a lot of mixture. With the pandemic, we are trying to work with these kids that didn’t get to play a whole season.
How is the development of

going?
We are pushing him at the 1-position now. He has been at the 3 for the last two years and he is playing the 1 for us now. We are trying to get him acclimated and hopefully by February he will be playing his best basketball.
In my opinion, Rico is among the best defenders in the state.
He is one of our toughest defenders. He gets down and he has a physical frame, so he can guard any-size player that we come across.
What about the play of
Kobe Ward

?
He is getting better. Kobe shot well for us tonight, lead us in the first half. It is not what you do in December, it is what you do in February. If we can get to the state tournament it will work in both of their favors.
Can you please tell me about some of the younger guys we should watch for?

, Jeremiah Smith, Cam’ron Anderson are playing big minutes for us as far as not playing so much last year. But they are coming in and playing better for us. I am just excited about the future.
