Prep Hoops Illinois covered the recent Team Rose Shootout. Here we break down the prospects we saw in our series of scouting reports. Today it is Team Rose Shootout: 2022 Evaluations Pt 2!

[player_tooltip player_id="925183" first="Braden" last="Huff"] (Glenbard West)

Big time players step up in big time games. The Gonzaga commit did exactly that against Hillcrest. With the game on the line in the second half Huff took over in stretches. The 6’10” lefty four man splashed deep threes, got to the line with drives, and scored through contact at the rim. Knack for finishing in traffic despite his lack of ideal strength. Also swatted an array of shots. He went for 26 points in the win and backed up his status as one of the best in Illinois.

[player_tooltip player_id="863598" first="Bobby" last="Durkin"] (Glenbard West)

Future Army wing has tremendous positional size at 6’6” with the ability to play the two through four. Elite shot maker with splashdown ability to way beyond the arc. Did a nice job in this game creating off the bounce for several pull ups from 15 feet. Seems to always make a key play defensively and dish it in transition ahead to his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id="925192" first="AaReyon" last="Munir-Jones"] (Hillcrest)

Munir-Jones is a prospect we are watching closely this season. Strong and athletic two guard that has the physical tools to be a low-major player. Put it on the deck a couple times for a runner and nice left handed finish along with hitting a three. Would like to see him be a bit more aggressive, consistent, and impactful. Right now he is a D2 guy.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048721" first="Elijah" last="Jointer"] (Mt. Carmel)

Jointer is a strong bodied post that is a tremendous rebounder. Grabs them with his strong hands in traffic. He had several put backs in the game we saw along with a baseline J. His value at the small college or JUCO level is as a rugged rebounder.

Joshua West (Westinghouse)

West put his name on our radar with a nice performance. The shooting guard is a nice utility player that can hit an occasional open shot and finishes in transition. Should be a nice fit at the small college or JUCO level.

[player_tooltip player_id="996066" first="Dajuan" last="Bates"] (De La Salle)

Bates has had an up and down season to date. Wiry guard with a lot of ability, but the consistency hasn’t been there. Even showed in this game as he was a bit up and down. Gets to the cup with his quickness and likes to play off his defense in the open floor. Finished with 17 points. Could be a D2 or JUCO prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="863597" first="Marcellius" last="Cohen"] (De La Salle)

Cohen made noise right after the event with his commitment to Bethune Cookman. The lefty five man has the frame and strength to play at that level. Offensive game is still a work in progress although he did knock in a nice turnaround jumper. His value is as an interior defender and rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id="863607" first="Nick" last="Harrell"] (Tinley Park)

Harrell had a nice outing. The transfer wing is fitting in nicely with Tinley Park. He is at his best playing in the open floor as a wing finisher. Got most of his damage done in that manner. Scored 15 points. Trending as a D2 prospect or possibly a JUCO prospect to elevate stock.

[player_tooltip player_id="925226" first="Martell" last="Webb"] (Tinley Park)

Webb is a throwback big man. The wide bodied five is a mauler on the glass on both ends taking up space and rebounding well in his area. He swatted a couple shots and showed touch in the paint. Even stretched it to three once which isn’t his game. Small college or JUCO big man that will excel at that level!
