The Big North is one of the largest conferences in the Garden State and is filled with players set for breakout campaigns. Here are some of the top Big North prospects who are set for a breakout 2021-22 season.
Brian Whitney Brian Whitney 6'3" | SG Passiac Valley | 2022 State NJ , 6’3 SG Passaic Valley 2022
Whitney had a strong junior campaign last season, but he will have a bigger role with Angel Rodriguez transferring to Montclair Immaculate. The 6’3 lefty has a smooth release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Whitney is more than just a shooter as he has an underrated handle and can finish above the rim. He is a good rebounder for a guard and uses his athleticism to make plays on the defensive end. Whitney is in store for a big senior season as he becomes the featured guy in Passaic Valley’s offense.
Treyvon Watson Treyvon Watson 6'8" | PF Paterson Eastside | 2023 State NJ , 6’8 PF Paterson Eastside 2023
Watson has been a part of the Ghosts’ rotation over the last two seasons and should get more looks on the offensive end. The 6’8 forward is a big-time shot-blocker who uses his combination of size and athleticism to swat shots around the basket. Watson runs the floor hard, setting himself up for easy baskets. He sets good screens in the half court and is developing his shooting range. Watson is a shot-blocking forward prospect who will provide more scoring for Paterson Eastside this season.
Peyton Seals Peyton Seals 6'4" | SG Ramapo | 2024 State NJ , 6’3 SG Ramapo 2024
The Raiders are a team to key an eye on over the next couple of years with the sophomore duo of Wyatt Engleton-Manner and Seals. The latter is a crafty guard prospect with a good handle and an ability to finish nicely around the basket. Seals has a good shooting stroke and has a quick release on his jumper. He moves well off the ball, freeing himself for open jumpers and layups. Seals’ scoring ability is something that will help his game throughout the course of the 2021-22 season.
Chase Jackson Chase Jackson 5'11" | PG Scotland Campus | 2023 State PA , 5’11 PG Paramus Catholic 2022
Jackson had a solid debut season for Paramus Catholic last season and should have an even bigger senior season. The Bergen Catholic transfer plays with poise with the ball in his hands and has a nice handle. Jackson is a good finisher around the basket and can score in the mid-range. He facilitates the offense nicely and is an underrated defender. Jackson’s ability to run the offense is something that will help him in a big way as the season progresses.
Mason Piorkowski Mason Piorkowski 5'9" | PG Saint Joseph (Montvale) | 2023 State NJ , 5’7 PG St. Joseph (Mont.) 2023
The Green Knights will be an intriguing team to watch, especially with the emergence of Piorkowski in the backcourt. The 5’7 guard has a lightning quick release on his jumper and his range starts once he crosses halfcourt. Piorkowski is more than just a shooter as he has a solid handle and can finish around the basket. He slides his feet well on the defensive end and is an underrated passer. Piorkowski is a marksman from distance, which will help him out in a big way in the 2021-22 season.
