The Ohio Valley Hoops Classic is where I’ll be for the opening weekend of basketball in Ohio. To get fans ready for the action, I’ll be previewing all the top prospects to watch in each game.

Lakota West Vs Franklin: Franklin has a senior duo of [player_tooltip player_id="921761" first="Nate" last="Paarlberg"] and [player_tooltip player_id="967173" first="Noah" last="Rich"] that gives the Wildcats experience and talent in their starting lineup to rely on. Lakota West has a stud Junior in [player_tooltip player_id="922592" first="Nathan" last="Dudukovich"] and lots of new faces on varsity. This will be an exciting game to open the weekend with.

St Xavier Vs Olentangy Liberty: St Xavier returns [player_tooltip player_id="1195129" first="Louie" last="Semona"] and has a lot of role players that impressed me over the summer. After a great season in 2020-21, we’ll see what Mike Noska has in store for an encore. For Olentangy Liberty, they said goodbye to a great senior class but they have some talent around Toledo commit [player_tooltip player_id="717039" first="Cooper" last="Davis"].

Fairfield Vs Richmond Heights: In the marquee contest of the opening day, Fairfield has a balanced and experienced squad against Richmond Heights who has a great balance of size, youth and experience. Division I commits [player_tooltip player_id="809630" first="Logan" last="Woods"] and [player_tooltip player_id="809590" first="Josiah" last="Harris"] are squaring off, but both teams have size in [player_tooltip player_id="921768" first="London" last="Maiden"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1163452" first="Aamir" last="Rogers"].

Lakota East Vs Massillon Jackson: Two public schools that have a lot of success in recent years, Massillon Jackson is projected to be one of the top teams in NEO this season. Returning guys like Ben Sullivan and [player_tooltip player_id="1173589" first="Kevin" last="James"] at the guard position plus [player_tooltip player_id="1090157" first="Owen" last="Woolbert"] at center, the Polar Bears could have their best season since winning a state title with Kyle Young. For Lakota East, they return [player_tooltip player_id="921807" first="Jadon" last="Coles"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1090160" first="Jack" last="Kronauge"] along some other solid pieces.

Mason Vs Tri-Village: The school with the largest enrollment in the state is taking on a Division IV public school in the final game of the day. Mason has young talent like [player_tooltip player_id="1222359" first="Ben" last="Menker"] with senior [player_tooltip player_id="1219813" first="Alex" last="Morton"] as a returning starter. Tri-Village returns a majority of their production from last season and should be one of the top Division IV teams in the state.
