While the conference isn’t as big as others, it will have a few other teams competing to run with Shelby as the Whippets look to continue their success into the new year. Take a look at my thoughts on the league for 2022.
Clear Fork- The Colts are losing 2 of their top 3 from a team that finished 8-16 a year ago. Jared Scott (Sr) is back and provides the leadership needed for Clear Fork to try and compete. It will take more depth though to challenge Shelby for a conference title.
Galion- Rece Payne (Sr) returns for the Tigers in 2022.
Pleasant- The Spartans were a young team a season ago and their top 2 guys coming back are both sophomores. Can Trey Booker and Wiley Smith take the necessary steps to move Pleasant into a competitive position?
River Valley- NOT ENOUGH INFO
Marion Harding- Harding was right there in the middle of the pack in the MOAC last season but wasn’t enough to overpower Shelby and Ontario. The Presidents return Wesley Stokes (Sr) but are losing 2 others from their top 3. Presidents should again be right behind the previously mentioned two teams.
Ontario- The Warriors return Gage Weaver (Jr), but lose 3 others from their top 4, including Griffin Shaver, from a season ago. Ontario’s ability to compete within the MOAC depends on if they can depend on Weaver and find the depth to contain and keep up with Shelby and their talent.
Shelby- The Whippets lose TJ Pugh and Cody Lantz from a Regional Semifinalist team, but return enough guys to again win within the MOAC. The Whippets may not contend for a Regional tournament again, but should take the MOAC title.
