I watched part of the Sunshine State Preseason Classic at Westminster Academy on Friday. The three-game slate were as follows. I thought the second game between Pembroke Pines Charter and Riviera Prep was fantastic. The game was back-and-forth and had a playoff like atmosphere.

North Broward Prep 80, Miami Country Day 56

Pembroke Pines Charter 69, Riviera Prep 66

Boyd Anderson 55, Stranahan 48

Standouts:

[player_tooltip player_id="1060261" first="Guilherme" last="Tesch"] - North Broward Prep

It was another solid outing for [player_tooltip player_id="1060261" first="Guilherme" last="Tesch"] with 19 points. The 6-foot-8 wing knocked down five 3-pointers to put his two-game total to eleven. Tesch has been impressive with his ability to stretch the floor. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="712115" first="Justin" last="Abson"] added a game-high 22 points. The 6-foot-9 forward has methodically been one of the best players in South Florida over his high school career.

[player_tooltip player_id="814913" first="Esteban" last="Lluberes"] - Riviera Prep

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="814913" first="Esteban" last="Lluberes"] scored a team-high 20 points for the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-7 guard looked great on defense moving his hips and providing tight on-ball pressure. Lluberes is a gamer with a high motor on both ends of the floor. He plays above his size and is not afraid to attack the rim. I like his moxy late in games.

[player_tooltip player_id="709232" first="Osmar" last="Garcia Araujo"] - Riviera Prep

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709232" first="Osmar" last="Garcia Araujo"] scored 19 points against the Jaguars. The 6-foot-7 forward moves really well in the open court and has fantastic footwork. I thought his movement around the rim was smooth and he made the extra pass when warranted. I think his coaching staff wanted him to be a bit more aggressive early, particularly shooting from the outside. Overall, Garcia Araujo is fundamentally sound with good size at the forward spot.

[player_tooltip player_id="955774" first="Kolby" last="King"] - Pembroke Pines Charter

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="955774" first="Kolby" last="King"] scored 24 points against the Bulldogs. Overall, I think he was the most dynamic scorer on the floor. King flashed his athleticism at the rim and knocked down a few 3-pointers. He was explosive into the second level and finished with either hand. King just has a burst with the ball in his hands. He is committed to St. John’s. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1065434" first="Caelum" last="Ethridge"] added 18 points. The 6-foot-5 guard hit multiple 3-pointers and scored at the rim using his length. Ethridge is very good at using his body to score in traffic. He is more athletic with a good handle than some might give him credit for. Ethridge is committed to Catawba.
