<p>It looks like a wide open race for a class A Suffolk championship will take place this season. Here are the contenders.</p>
<p><strong>Amityville Section XI Suffolk County</strong></p>
<p>Amityville for many years is always in this conversation. This year the player they will lean on is <strong>Elijah Canady</strong> he is a flat out scorer. Has the ability to take over games. Capable of scoring from all three levels. In the backcourt <strong>Christian Smiley </strong>will be leaned on to handle the ball. The young guard should excel. He has excellent court vision. He can make plays. Has shown he can deliver the ball to teammates at the right time.</p>
<p><strong>Mount Sinai Section XI. Suffolk County</strong></p>
<p>At the end of last season, Mount Sinai wanted to start right up. They had a lot of pieces coming back. In the summer they added to their talent by adding one of the better players on Long Island. <strong>Drew Fienstein </strong>transferred in. The lefty guard can play above the rim. Outstanding tenacious rebounder. A good ball handler and drains deep threes. <strong>Thomas Frycek</strong> was asked to play the point and he showed himself to be very capable of handling the lead guard spot. Coach has options to play him at either guard spot. Very good defender who can score the ball. <strong>Bobby Seeley </strong>is a very skilled player. He is strong with the ball. Has an excellent pull up game. Mount Sinai has a lot of versatility in their rotation. <strong>Derek Schecter </strong>is another highly skilled guard. Has excellent court vision and is an elite shooter from three.</p>
<p><strong>Deer Park Section XI. Suffolk County (pictured)</strong></p>
<p>Dont sleep on Deer Park this year. They are young but talented. Suffolk county player of the year candidate <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1195583" first="Preston" last="Edmead"]. </strong>Extremely quick getting into the lane he can blow by defenders and finish with a scoop layup with Steph Curry likeness. If you play off him he will drain threes. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1047075" first="Kyle" last="Jefferson"] </strong>is his backcourt mate. If you key on stopping Preston, Kyle has the arsenal to beat you. He is a complete guard. Possesses the whole game. These two players will be complemented by <strong>Nate Gordon </strong>who could be the best pure scorer in the program. Scores off the bounce. He will also give them some size, he is very good rebounder at 6”3. <strong>Chance Nelson </strong>also 6”3 is very active. He is athletic getting to the rim. <strong>Jaivon Newton</strong> will give the Falcons a very active defender, he has quick hands. Extremely quick who is a excellent passer on the break.</p>
<p><strong>Bayport Blue Point. Section XI. Suffolk County</strong></p>
<p><strong>Jack Baron </strong>a lights out elite shooter from three. Possibly the best shooter in the county. Unlimited range. Very crafty with the ball and a high level skill set. Teams key on stopping him but he just finds ways to score. <strong>Robbie Maurer </strong>is a pure point guard. Knows where to get his teammates the ball at the right time. Excellent ball handler. Good court vision and awareness. Excellent shooter from three.</p>
<p><strong>Kings Park Section XI Suffolk County</strong></p>
<p><strong>Matt Garside</strong> the younger brother of the all time leading scorer at Kings Park can light it up on his own. Lights out shooter from three. Very fluid jumper with good rotation out of his hand. <strong>Jon Borkowski </strong>is a lock down defender on the ball. He will hound you all over the court. Very good with the ball in his hands. Consistently knocks down the open three.</p>

<p><strong>Eastport South Manor </strong>will be led by <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1047072" first="Justin" last="Turner"]. </strong>He is an athletic scoring guard. Justin has a great work ethic. He has the skill set and make up to carry a team</p>
<p><strong>Hauppague </strong>is a up and coming team who can surprise. Led by <strong>Macai John </strong>he is a outstanding rebounder. Will be a defensive presence. Could be one of the leading scorers in Suffolk by seasons end.</p>
