WIBCA Part 3 Analysis of 8 Seattle/Tacoma Area Prospects Class 2022-24 Class of 2024 Vazouma Diallo 2024 6-3 Combo Guard Curtis The silky smooth point guard is the top prospect in this class and will be a great Division One player. It’s amazing how polished his game is already considering he is just beginning his sophomore year. He has so many intangible traits. He has a confident, mature demeanor about him on the court that makes him a natural leader. His intelligence and competitiveness are off the charts. Physically he is an angular and long 6-3 with tremendous body control. He is able to wiggle past multiple defenders but is not just a one dimensional slasher. He truly values making precise passes and has tremendous vision and court awareness. With a look he can shift defenses and get teammates to move to open spots. “Zoom” also knows how and when to play slow to gain an advantage. He has the physical gifts to be a lockdown defender and the intelligence and savvy to block shots with his left hand or feign a steal attempt to get players to burn their dribble. Was in the top ten in scoring at 16 points per game. Class of 2023 Gabriel Rzany 2023 6-7 Post Graham-Kapowsin Loves collision! Don’t let first impressions negatively impact your evaluation. Rzany is not in great shape, and he does not jump out of the gym, he doesn’t have crazy long arms but as the heaviest player on the court, he completely took advantage of his superior body mass. He plays basketball as if it was a collision sport. He was able to dominate smaller and lighter players inside for offensive rebounds but when he refused to be intimated by [player_tooltip player_id="674431" first="Kamal" last="Muhammad"] and scored inside against him, I began to see a basketball future for him beyond high school. The first thing that jumps out are the easily identifiable physical gifts. He has the frame and body type that looks fast even when he is standing still. He is both quick and fast. He explodes when necessary and downshifts on demand. He has a three point shot that is more than trustworthy and possesses the clutch gene. He plays much bigger than his size and he has plenty of size. It says a lot about his style of play when each time I saw him play, I immediately wrote down PHYSICAL. Very few players even tried to establish a low post position against him and I only saw one player hold position for more than a full count. Offensively he will never be accused of posting a spot. He does not post up on air- he posts his man. He doesn’t just like contact, he seeks it out. He does have the ability to put it on the ground as he looked very confident and comfortable using bust out dribbles after snaring a defensive rebound. His size, physicality and unrelenting effort can not be ignored. He definitely would bring toughness to a four year college roster. He uses his chest to body players attempting to drive to the hoop but also uses his strong and quick hands to deflect pases, snatch loose balls, and to take the ball from his man without fouling. He can score in bunches and when he is hitting his shots, running the floor, and pursuing rebounds he looks every bit the part of a top level recruit. He just needs to play at his highest level more consistently. The occasional missed but highly contested three point shot, the unforced turnover on the break, and not converting on defense with a sense of urgency are all bad habits that are more likely to be prevalent in a showcase setting. It’s likely that in a more structured situation he would show an increased mental discipline which is a must in order for him to reach his potential as a prospect. Tinsely had previously shown the ability to hit the three point shot but against Church he was more physical and assertive inside. He was not content to float on the perimeter. He attacked the body of Church and did not hesitate to put shots up inside. When he plays quick and physically he is a capable college stretch four. [player_tooltip player_id="1262698" first="Carson" last="Talbert"] 2022 6-7 Small Forward Tahoma Talbert has vastly improved his body in the last three months. He is quicker, bouncier, and has better endurance. I have seen him play many times and until this week-end I was not quite sold on him as a perimeter player at the next level. But now? He consistently showed an outside shot off the dribble and has strong enough handles to convince me he is an impact wing at a four year college. The progression of his improvement is a testament to his work ethic. He was able to get himself to the basket from way outside and did it in very few dribbles. He finished with multiple aggressive dunks and never seemed to tire. He lead the Showcase in scoring at 22.3 points per game.   WIBCA Part 4 Analysis of Four Prospects from the North Sound Area Class of 2024-22 The two day showcase featured 160 players and over 20 colleges represented from NCAA Division II, NAIA, NCAA Division III, and Junior College levels. Class of 2025 Leyton Martin 2025 5-9 Point Guard Arlington Great future for the young and small player. He is as fearless as he is crafty. Against so many bigger and older players he was still able to show that he is an excellent passer with terrific vision, and a knowledge of the role of a point guard. Ethan Martin 2022 6-0 Shooting Guard Arlington Shooter! The sturdy and poised Martin is a three pointer waiting to happen. I watched him nail two threes from the top of the key off the dribble, another in the corner off a skip pass, and another from the wing after a drive and kick- and that all happened in one half! Great shooters all equally skilled at shooting off the dribble as they are off the catch and Martin does both very well. He is not a purely one dimensional player though and he has good vision and made two needle-threading passes that lead to easy buckets for his teammates. Scored 15 points per game to land in the top 10 of scorers. Wyatt Dunning 2022 6-5 Small Forward Port Angeles Has the ability to knock down the three off the catch and can bring the ball up the floor. Uses his strong frame inside too and has good footwork around the basket with up and under moves Connor Anderson 2022 5-9 Point Guard Burlington an absolute blur with the ball- loves to push it, is bouncy and is a tremendous drive and kick player.
