It’s always helpful to go back through and scan my notes looking for info about a player or a trend from the event. Let’s take a look at some of my notes from the Hankamp Hoops Open Run on Sunday in Elkhart, Indiana.
Antonio Hardin (2024, Elkhart)
– Confident finisher at the rim
– Nice lefty scoop finish
– Looping floater that’s tough to defend
Joseph Norris (2024, Lawrence North)
– Solid handles with both hands
– Can shake and bake his defender off the dribble
Event Trend: A lot of athleticism in the building. Athletic takes to rim and dazzling finishes.
Niko Downs (2025, Coldwater)
– Tough for his size, allows him to play bigger than his height
– Smart player = high basketball IQ = very limited mental mistakes and efficient basketball…….ESPECIALLY FOR A FRESHMAN!
Bryce Gray (2024, University High School)
– Very good passer in transition – doesn’t force the pass, but let’s the play happen then finds his man
– Head up and eyes scanning in the open floor, really like him in the center leading the break with the ball
Asher Puhalski Asher Puhalski 6'2" | SG Schoolcraft | 2022 State MI (2022, Schoolcraft)
– Going to be dangerous on offense during high school season
– Nice looking jumper from behind the arc – multiple 3’s on the day
– Able to get out in transition and finish for 2 from the wing
Event Trend: A lot of good talking…..it’s a loud gym! Communicating with teammates on both ends of the floor.
Dylen Springer (2025, Northridge)
– You can tell that he’s as student of the game – High basketball IQ
– I like the way he handles – doesn’t over do it / over dribble – Gets it to a spot and delivers the ball where it needs to go
Tyshaun Grundy (2023, Washington)
– Tough triple with a hand in his face!
– 3 pointer off the dribble – 3 bounces then fires with quick release
– DEEP 3!
– Putting on a show from behind the arc
Izaak Wight (2024, Wabash)
– Underrated as an all around athlete – moves really well on the floor
– I like the way he works off the wing and plays off of his ball handlers
– Moves well without the ball and finds his spot on the floor
