Region 2 will look a little different his year with addition of Roy and West. Last season Roy defeated Kearns on a last second shot to end their playoff run. West will be able to compete in Region 2. While mostly every team returns some keyplayers here is a list of players that we believe will be the key to success at each respective program.

Cyprus

While Cyprus is one of those teams that has some talented pieces the key to their success might land on one of their role players. That role player is [player_tooltip player_id="967705" first="MJ" last="Tia"]. While teams often do their scouting report around players like [player_tooltip player_id="934034" first="Justus" last="Fobbs-Jackson"], [player_tooltip player_id="934030" first="Quentin" last="Meza"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1057025" first="Diego" last="Mulford"] it is easy to maybe look past MJ. That will be a mistake. MJ is the ultimate team player that does all the dirty work and is willing to do what it takes to help his team win. MJ rebounds at a high clip and he is all over the floor. He is one of those players that is just slippery to defend and to keep off the glass. Big time key for Cyprus.

Granger

Granger will have to have a lot of players step up but the key might be with [player_tooltip player_id="1192001" first="Isaac" last="Lemus"]. Lemus played a big role in last seasons team and he will need to increase his production.

Hunter

Hunter is one of those teams that will fly under the radar but they have some talent and they have something to play for as they lost a teammate in [player_tooltip player_id="1206929" first="Elijah" last="Henry"] in a bad car accident. Hunter will need some major play from [player_tooltip player_id="967721" first="Darius" last="Henderson"]. Darius has the ability to really take over a game. Like his defensive effort especially in the passing lanes. Darius will be a major key to success at Hunter this season.

Kearns

Kearns is a dangerous team with a lot of players coming back. We believe that [player_tooltip player_id="934517" first="Jonny" last="Gasologa"] will be the key player as there are not many teams that can matchup with him and his length. Jonny rebounds and alters shots and cleans up anything around the glass.

Roy

Roy is in a rebuild but they will look to Dominic Anguinao who got a lot of minutes last season and was able to be a contributor in last season which was successful. Dominic will be a key contributor to the success that Roy has next season.

Taylorsville

Taylorsville will be one of the bigger teams in the region as they have a lot of size coming back. My guess is that Taylorville plays a lot of zone agains and they will need [player_tooltip player_id="1201657" first="Luke" last="Johnson"] a 6’6 big that can cover ground and rebound.

West

[player_tooltip player_id="1206983" first="Malosi" last="Solovi"] is the only player coming back with experience and scoring stats. Look for Malosi to have more energy as last season he played sophomore ball, JV and Varsity.
