Prep Hoops Louisiana Top 250 All-Expo Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Prep Hoops Louisiana Top 250 expo was an impressive event with over 120 participants. Because the event was such a success, it is only fitting to name an all-Expo team. From the top 10 participants to players who were not ranked, these players were the best of the best on at the Team Sportsplex in Baton Rouge.</p> <p><strong>1st Team</strong> </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/07/20210710_170325.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1236523" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/07/20210710_170325-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="781853" first="John-Paul" last="Ricks"]</strong> <strong>(6’0" / Jehovah-Jireh) - </strong>JP is already a top five player in his class.  What he did display was his willingness to defend on the ball in the open floor.  He had several steals in that situation and turn them into dunks on the opposite end showing his improved vertical.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055172" first="Corey" last="Chest"]</strong> <strong>(6’8" / McMain) - </strong>Chest continued the momentum from his good play this summer with his performance in Baton Rouge.  He turned away shots at the rim after perimeter players got beat.  On the flipside, Chest displayed an improved handle in the open court which allowed him to get transition dunks and buckets at the rim.  </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1159181" first="Trey’Dez" last="Green"]</strong> <strong>(6’8" / East Feliciana) </strong>- If Green caught the ball in the paint, it was an automatic score on this day.  He is more than a back to the basket player and was able to face up and get by other post playing forwards.  Green has a big upside for a player going into his sophomore season.  </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1211092" first="Jordan" last="Brooks"]</strong> <strong>(6’6" / Port Allen) - </strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1211092" first="Jordan" last="Brooks"] displayed his versatility on both sides of the ball in Baton Rouge.  He punished teams in the paint whether getting downhill with his drive or rebounding the offensive boards and finishing strong.  On defense, whether it was a half court trap or post </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1051638" first="Troy" last="Cole"]</strong> <strong>(6’4" / Donaldsonville) - </strong>Cole is another player who had a big wave of momentum in which he rode into the Prep Hoops Top 250.  His two-way play in Baton Rouge let to a couple of vicious dunks and a lot of finishes in the open court.  His stock is definitely rising.  </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1213631" first="Derrick" last="Morris"]</strong> <strong>(5’10" / St. Michael’s) - </strong>Morris played the point guard position as well as it could be played on this day.  He was talkative on defense putting players into position and orchestrated the offense finding guys in transition with on the money passes.  Outside of JP Ricks, he was the best point guard in the gym.  </p> <p><strong>2nd Team</strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Markray-Jamari-3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium player_id="1270103" first="Alex" last="Broussard"]</strong> <strong>(6’3" / Vermilion Catholic) - </strong>VC guard who has major hops.  Attacks the rim well and is good at man-to-man defense</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1275273" first="Taj" last="Jackson"]</strong> <strong>(6’1" / Liberty) - </strong>Jackson will see his stock rise after this event.  He was stellar on offense and defense.  Great finisher at the rim.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="981498" first="Jamari" last="Markray"]</strong> <strong>(6’2" / Doyline) - </strong>Markray and his acrobatic finishes were some of the days highlights.  He is at home in transition.  </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1211165" first="Albert" last="Shell"]</strong> <strong>(6’2" / Wossman) - </strong>The NELA wing scored from anywhere on the floor showing that his offense is just as potent as his defense.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="781836" first="Donald" last="Butler"]</strong> <strong>(6’4" / Walker) - </strong>Butler is a terror on defense but even more of one at the rim.  His atheltic dunks woke some sleepers up</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="981599" first="Noah" last="Jonker"]</strong> <strong>(6’5" / ASH) - </strong>Jonker displayed a face up game which showcased finishes with either hand at the rack.  Very skilled in the paint. </p> <p><strong>3rd player_id="1271648" first="Devion" last="Lavergne"] (6’3" / North Central) - </strong>High school forward with point guard skills; he makes the game look effortless at times</p> New Iberia)</strong></p> <p>I expect some of the players from these all-Expo teams will be at the various elite camps around the state, and surrounding states, in the coming weeks.  If nothing else, the Prep Hoops Louisiana Top 250 expo gave all players a chance to get a feel for the format of an exposure camp before they attend another.  With this experience under their belt, I expect to see
