The Passion Region Finals brought together some of the Southeast’s best Prep Hoops Circuit for a 2-day, high-intensity tournament. And while more than 90+ teams came through the doors of LakePoint Sports Complex in Cartersville, Georgia, only 1 team from each division was able to take home the title of Prep Hoops Passion Region Passion Region Champions!

As the best basketball state in the nation (no bias here, I promise), you know Florida was very well represented! So, here are some of the early standouts from the weekend, Part 2:

[player_tooltip player_id="955797" first="Ahman" last="Greenidge"], 6’4", North Florida Elite, 2022

Greenidge was probably the most physically intimidating prospect of the entire weekend. Greendige is built like a line man, with broad shoulders and legs that look like they could easily defend a quarterback. But when you watch him play, you’ll be dazzled by his fluidity and guard-like eloquence. He’s a smooth scorer with a reliable handle and a bag of combo moves that made him hard to stay in front of. And when he got by you to score downhill, his remarkable frame was a hard one to stifle at the basket. He was one of the best on-ball defenders all weekend as well, using his large body to cut defenders off and jam them up as they tried to go anywhere. His jumper needs some more development, but is on its way to being deemed reliable enough to make it happen. Greenidge was the first option of a very good North Florida Elite team and will be a guy to keep an eye on as a stock riser next year.

[player_tooltip player_id="956783" first="Lajae" last="Jones"], 6’7", North Florida Elite, 2022

Jones is as athletic as they come. The 6’7" forward is an incredible leaper who is usually in the right place at the right time for an easy lob or steal and run out. Jones can contest shots at the rim with efficiency as well, making him a solid defensive option in the low post. He’s got a long ways to go development wise when it comes to his softer skills (shooting, handling, vision) but his pure athleticism is deadly enough to help him land at a university and play a big role all next season.

Demanion Valmyr, 6’8", North Florida Elite, 2022

Valmyr was poised as one of the best big men of the whole weekend. His shoulders are built and he’s got a fantastic frame for a big man, making him able to move defenders on the block for easy points. He was as fundamental as they come in the paint, and could rebound at a high level as well. He is the full package for a big man at the high school level who looked like he could translate his game to the next level with ease. Valmyr should see a rise in stock throughout the season as he continues to improve his game.

Ericson Fleurima, 6’1", Florida Express, 2023

Fleurima is a smaller forward with an instinct far above his height. He’s a strong rebounder who can fly around the rim and pulls rebounds out of the hands of some of the bigger guys on the floor. That athleticism is also valuable on the offensive end of the ball, giving him an easy way to score around the basket off of those rebounds or from pure post-ups. Defensively, Fleurima once again utilizes that athleticism to contest shots around the basket and get blocks. Overall, Fleurima is a springy prospect that is an issue on the court.
