Here are a few wings from small schools who have turned heads this summer:
Nathan Adams Nathan Adams 6'2" | SF Pratt-Skyline | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-2 forward, 2022, WKE White, Pratt-Skyline HS:
Adams has looked this summer like an elite 1A-type. He combines size, athleticism and a great stroke from deep to stand out against competition from all size of schools. He showed this summer he can catch and shoot quickly from all around the perimeter. He’s big and tough and looks like he can play shooting guard, wing, or post.
Jaden Boone Jaden Boone 6'3" | SG Quinter | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, Team Buddy Buckets, Quinter HS (pictured):
Boone is demonstrating that a small-school guy can get it done against any level of competition. Boone is a 1A star who plays with a bunch of big-school teammates during the summer and looks good. He is powerful when he gets in the lane, and is comfortable handling the ball from end to end. He can score from the perimeter or the post.
Emmett Gaskill, 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, SSA Hoops Elite, Hugoton HS:
Gaskill dipped his toe in the varsity waters as a freshman, but he’s going to be ready to go after a summer working with SSA this summer. He’s got the size and skills to be a ‘tweener.’ He helps handle the ball and break pressure. He can shoot and works inside the lane and on the perimeter. Gaskill does the little things that he’ll need to do to join a veteran varsity crew this fall.
Walt Gray, 6-foot-4 forward, 2023, Team Buddy Buckets, Hutchinson Trinity Academy:
Gray is a long, tough guys who works hard inside and can score from outside. He is another of those small-school guys who is teamed with a bunch of players from bigger schools. He is a team player who does the dirty work and demonstrates the football-type of toughness so often found at the small-school level. Gray is not just showing what small school guys can do, but he’s preparing to carry a bigger load at Trinity next year.
Dameion Hatten Dameion Hatten 6'3" | CG Sedan | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, Team Buddy Buckets, Sedan HS:
Hatten is an athletic and versatile guy who can play guard, but plays more like a wing for his club team. He stands out in transition, both offensively and defensively. He can get up and down and make plays at the rim. With so many offensive talents around his club team, Hatten focuses on being a glue guy and a defensive stopper.
