The Summer Challenge concluded over the weekend as many teams from the state of Illinois prepped for the live period with this must attend early July event. Time to dive into the best players we saw in Summer Challenge: Illinois Top Unsigned Seniors/Prep School Performers!

[player_tooltip player_id="1152903" first="Amar" last="Augillard"] (Young & Reckless)

Augillard is a 6’5” power wing/four man that was a man among boys over the weekend. He physically took it at his opponents in transition for powerful jams and converted through contact on slashes over and over. Showed flashes as a shooter and dished it with some flair. Plus rebounder that after a year at the prep level will be a mid-major prospect as a perfect new age four man. Plans to attend Core 4 Prep in Georgia.

[player_tooltip player_id="821734" first="Jaiden" last="Lee"] (Young & Reckless)

Lee is another 2021 prospect that will be heading the prep route going to Big Tyme Prep in Texas. The former Joliet West shooting guard is a lengthy two way wing that has a clean looking jump shot and in the game we saw got above the rim for a ton of dunks en route to 19 points. Low-majors and D2s should take a look.

[player_tooltip player_id="920945" first="Jaehshon" last="Thomas"] (Young & Reckless)

Thomas hasn’t for sure decided on his destination next year, but the former Whitney Young point guard shoots it at a high rate from the perimeter. Excellent mid-range shooter pulling up and stretched it to three at a nice clip as well. Went for 23 points in one of the wins. Low-majors should be interested in this guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="1152911" first="Chaz" last="Harvey"] (RISE)

Harvey recently decided on Don Bosco Prep in Indiana for next year. Athletic combo guard from Brooks High School that has such a fluid and smooth offensive game. On Sunday he was outstanding scoring from all three levels getting buckets off the bounce and making plays with the ball in his hands.

[player_tooltip player_id="920942" first="Grant" last="Newell"] (Mac Irvin Fire)

Newell is another unsigned senior prospect from Whitney Young. He is playing the best basketball of his career. The Dolphins power forward is bringing the motor and doing damage because of it. Knocks in spot up threes and has a go to hook shot. Quick to the offensive glass and is playing with a high activity level. Should open eyes at Peach Jam of low-major programs.

[player_tooltip player_id="765217" first="KJ" last="Debrick"] (Illinois Hoopstars)

Debrick is a wide bodied five man that continues to elevate his stock steadily over the last year. The Lanphier five man will head off to Big Tyme Prep in Texas next season and mid-majors should be tracking him. Rebounds extremely well in his area with his physicality and how light he is on his feet. The footwork shows on the offensive end with excellent post moves.

Gabriel Wright (All In Athletics)

Wright opened our eyes with a strong outing. He is a face up four that shot it at an incredibly impressive rate from beyond the arc over the weekend. Fluid athlete that also brings versatility on the defensive end. Perfect JUCO upside prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="995969" first="Bennie" last="Slater"] (Illini Magic)

Slater has been known as an elite passer at 6’6”, but when we saw him in Chicago it was his ability to get to the rim and high-level athleticism that popped. He had a couple of explosive blocks including a couple of LeBron swats. Was at his best playing bully ball with his bounce off the dribble. High level JUCO prospect.

Justin Banks (All In Athletics)

Banks is a well built power forward originally from Schaumburg that prepped at Oak Hill and will do a year of prep at a different school this upcoming season. He has opened our eyes over the last couple months with his combination of power and skill from the post along with the mid-range. Efficient scorer that should be monitored in July.

[player_tooltip player_id="652731" first="Ola" last="Ajiboye"] (Full Package)

Ajiboye was a top 20 prospect in Illinois the last two years. He is a defensive minded post that has added strength over the last year. His shot blocking is what makes him an intriguing prospect. Excellent rim protector that has mobility as well switching in ball screen situations. Offensively he shows flashes, but is best as a rim runner. Will attend Don Bosco Prep next year.
