Continue ReadingWith the break in the AAU season for the month of June, we turn our attention to the IBCA Top 100 Showcase in Indianapolis. The best players will be on display in front of many college coaches, and with the 2023 recruiting window finally opening earlier this week, those guys will have a major opportunity to put their skills on display.
Session 1
One Player To Watch: Xavier Booker Xavier Booker 6'11" | PF Cathedral | 2023 State #4 Nation IN
Booker is one of the top players in the 2023 class, and he showed this with the number of coaches that had contacted him during the first day of contact for 2023’s. Booker has already received offers from Louisville, Ohio State, and Purdue among others. He is an extremely talented big man inside, and he is going to continue to receive these high major offers over the upcoming year.
One Player We Need To See More: Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN
Benter is an outstanding shooter who plays the game the right way. He hasn’t quite shown anything in the paint, but his outside shot is one of the better ones from the 2024 class. He is going to make a lot of shots this weekend and be a player that coaches are watching.
One Player That Should Surprise: Hunter Johnson Hunter Johnson 6'2" | SG South Decatur | 2022 State IN
Hunter Johnson Hunter Johnson 6'2" | SG South Decatur | 2022 State IN has been a player that I have been extremely high on over the last couple of years. He has been a star for South Decatur, and with Lane Lauderbaugh Lane Lauderbaugh 6'7" | SF South Decatur | 2021 State IN graduating, Johnson is going to be the star. This weekend, he has a chance to start his potentially great junior season, and he has the team around him to do it. He is a player that all coaches should keep an eye on this weekend.

Jamie Hodges Jr. | 5’9″ | PG | 2023 | Michigan City |
2022 Player to Watch: Kyle Thomas Kyle Thomas 6'4" | SG Cloverdale | 2022 State IN
Thomas is a very talented scorer with great size. He can knock down shots from all over the court and plays physical defense on the other end of the floor. Kyle is also coming off of a very good spring AAU season with GPP UA Rise. Watch for Thomas to impress this weekend.
2023 Player to Watch: Jaxson Gould Jaxson Gould 6'3" | SG Warsaw | 2023 State IN
Gould is an incredibly shifty and quick guard who really controls the offense when he is on the floor. He knows how to finish around the bigger defenders inside and can make plays everywhere on the court. Gould had a couple of Division 1 coaches make contact with him this week, and I expect more to make contact following this weekend.
Player We Need to See More: AJ Dixon
Dixon is a small forward with a lot of size and length. He seems to have all of the intangibles in place to make things happen, so we need to see him start to put it all together with a good performance this weekend.
