Marat Belhouchet, PG, Mass Commanders, Newton North, HT 5’10, Class Junior
Marat is a very skilled point guard. Marat shoots the ball at a high level from all areas of the court. Marat has great shooting form, always balanced and square, and has a nice follow through and a soft shooting touch. Marat plays defense the full 94 feet and never takes a play off. Marat is a very good defender, and makes it very hard for anyone to get by him. Marat is a true point guard, and has shown that he is also able to be a facilitator. Marat sees the floor well, and does a good job finding his open teammates. The Belhouchet brother’s were a very strong backcourt for the Newton North Tigers this past High school season. With Marat’s brother Karim graduating, I expect Marat to take an even bigger role for the Tigers in his senior season. Marat showed his clutch factor, by having a game winning buzzer beating layup this AAU season in a hoop group tournament game. Marat is always working on his game, and I think he will continue to rise his stock. Marat is proving his game can translate to the next level.
Kyle Bovell, position Guard, HT 6’2 Class Junior, Mass Commanders, Newton North, HT 6’2
Kyle is a high level, high intensity player with size and strength. Kyle is super quick, and has a very quick first step. Kyle can get to the basket with ease, and has high level finishing skills, even through contact. Kyle is a very athletic and strong player. Kyle is really starting to shoot the ball well, giving Kyle the ability to the stretch the floor. This makes Kyle a very tough player to match up with. Kyle is becoming a threat from all areas of the floor. Kyle like’s to play above the rim. You will see Kyle through down a big dunk, and also see Kyle as the rim protector. Kyle is a great defender in the paint. Kyle is showing he can take his game to very high levels. One highlight from this spring AAU season for Kyle was his coast to coast game winning layup against an Under Armour sponsor team NE6 from Connecticut. Kyle is a player you don’t want to miss.
Nate Edwards, Class Junior, Mass Commanders, HT 6’5, Position F
Nate is a tall lanky left handed player. Nate is an above the rim player, Nate can jump very high, throw down dunks, and is a high level shot blocker. Nate is very Athletic. Nate is a strong finisher with both hands. Nate can also meet guys at the rim. Nate does a great job of blocking and altering shots without fouling. His long reach makes it very tough for offensive players to shoot over him. Nate is now starting to shoot more, and shoot with confidence. If Nate can become a shooter watch out. Nate is a player with a ton of upside to his game, and potential.
Derrick Thomas, class Junior, HT 5’11, Mass commanders, Winchedon, position G
Derrick is a great shooter, and he can knock down shots no matter who is guarding him. Derrick hits a lot of contested shots. Derrick has a super crafty skill set, and ball handling skills. Derrick has great leadership skills, always tries to uplift his teammates. Derrick makes players around him better, with his leaderships skills, and his court vision, and facilitating. Derick is a guard who has a lot of potential. Derrick is someone players like to have on their team.
