Inside-Outside for Chicago Lockdown 16U
Chicago Lockdown 16U fell in their opener, but we continue to like the potential of several of their prospects. At the point Lyons point guard Jackson Niego Jackson Niego 6'0" | PG Lyons Township | 2023 State IL is a hard-nosed leader that makes crisp passes and knocks down shots. He had 10 points and 4 dimes. His cousin from Brother Rice Nick Niego Nick Niego 6'2" | SG Brother Rice | 2023 State IL started out on fire going 7-7 to open with four of them being from beyond the arc netting 22 for the game. Quick and concise shot maker! Hillcrest 6’7” power forward Matthew Moore Matthew Moore 6'7" | PF Hillcrest | 2023 State IL has tons of upside. Great frame and athleticism. Flash player right now meaning he flashes the long term potential, but it isn’t consistent. That was shown several times in this one including cutting a passing lane for a dunk.
Chicago Lockdown Tops Old Gold 17U in Exciting Opener
This was a fun contest that Chicago Lockdown won 56-44. It started off with the play of Lake Park 6’2” 2022 combo guard Sebastian Blachut Sebastian Blachut 6'2" | SG Lake Park | 2022 State IL . He threw down a pair of nasty dunks on strong takes in the lane. Also mixed in several other nice drives. Went for 14 points. His backcourt mate Prospect 5’10” point guard Owen Schnieder displayed his passing along with shot making hitting threes, runners, along with mid-range jumpers. Finished with 10 points. Couple of big men on this squad that are ones to watch in June and July. This was our first live game look at Bartlett 7’2” five man Conrad Luczynski Conrad Luczynski 7'2" | C Bartlett | 2022 State IL . The dude is massive inside taking up space. Good shot blocker and displayed some passing feel. Rebounds in his area. Mt. Carmel 6’6” four man Elijah Jointer Elijah Jointer 6'6" | PF Mount Carmal | 2022 State IL brings toughness and versatility on both ends. For Old Gold they got after it defensively and were aggressive taking it to the rack. King 2022 6’3” wing Joshua Reed Joshua Reed 6'3" | SG King | 2022 IL is a lefty that has a wiry frame. Made plays in the lane on runners and quick takes. He had 11 points. Also liked what we saw out of Niel Davis Niel Davis 6'3" | SG Kenwood | 2022 State IL . The Kenwood 2022 wing was very good in the second half with his float game and mid-range shot. He had 12 points.
Balanced Effort for Team NLP 17U in Victory over Limitless
Great group performance for Team NLP to open the event in Milwaukee. They got it done on both ends of the floor. It all started with Schaumburg 2022 point guard Vaurice Patterson Vaurice Patterson 6'1" | PG Hamilton Heights | 2022 State TN . He was super aggressive on the defensive end blocking a jumper and one on a recover. Also cut passing lanes for steals turning them into points in transition. Offensively he is quick off the bounce, makes the extra pass, and has a high IQ. Pair of unsigned seniors played a major role in the win. Conant 2021 wing Devon Ellis Devon Ellis 6'5" | SF Conant | 2021 State IL is a power small forward that loves to get downhill and to foul line. Oak Hill 2021 four man Justin Banks is a well built power forward with skill. Two 2022 utility guys stepped up for NLP in the win. Schaumburg 6’2” guard DJ Wilson seemed to always be around the ball making plays. Hit a three, quick plays inside, and converted a scoop shot. Nick Doroskin is a Schaumburg 6’6” four that can put it on the deck a little and finishes well in the paint. At the point St. Viators Eli Aldana Eli Aldana 5'11" | PG St. Viator | 2023 State IL is a shifty ball handler and exciting passer. For Limitless Basketball the player that jumped off the floor at us was Prospect 6’6” four man Daniel Raupp. Skilled power forward that is thin and mobile. Runs the floor well, finishes around the hoop, and is a good area rebounder. Hit a three and showed he could defend in ball screens.
Forwards Put Name on Map in Sky Ice Elite vs Old Gold Matchup
We took in Sky Ice Elite vs Old Gold 16U to finish out the night. Couple of 2023 forwards put their names on our radar with their play. For Sky Ice Elite it was 6’5” power forward Nathan Hart. The long and lean four man runs the floor with fluidity for points in transition. Flies in for offensive rebounds. Pushes off defensive boards. Like the developmental upside here a lot. For Old Gold 16U Harlan 6’3” forward Raequan Walker played taller than his height using his length to be a force on the offensive glass and finishing inside.
