The game of the day was ECI 17U Prospects vs. Alexandria. It was an overtime thriller! The tournament will conclude on Sunday. Read below to see who the “special” players are from Saturday night.
Alphabetically, here are the Special players from Saturday night:
Adam Jenkins Adam Jenkins 6'9" | C Moorhead | 2023 State MN (2023) |6-7 F| Moorhead – I enjoyed watching the way he shares the ball. Many post players are black holes when they get it in the post. Adam is patient and he finds the open man when he receives the ball. Everyone loves a post that kicks it to shooters. Adam also runs the floor extremely hard. He is also a rim protector and a strong rebounder.
Alex Proctor Alex Proctor 6'1" | SG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-1 G| ECI Prospects/Fargo Davies – He is a great athlete with hops, strength, quickness, and speed. Alex had a big-time rim rocking 2-handed dunk in transition last night. It will be interesting to see where he fits in the rotation next season with a stacked backcourt at Davies.
Carter Steffensmeier (2022) |6-1 G| Alexandria – He is a big-time 3-point shooter. Carter showed great hustle in transition that led to easy baskets. He is a smart player that makes the right move at the correct time. Carter uses his body well when finishing at the rim. I like the way he moves without the ball and spaces the floor. He had a clutch drive in OT. He finished through contact and finished the AND 1 play with a made free throw.
Dominic Dosmann Dominic Dosmann 6'8" | PF WF Sheyenne | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-8 F| ECI Prospects/West Fargo Sheyenne – This lefty is a high-quality player. He is an opportunistic and smart player. He scored multiple points on O-board put-backs. Dominic is an unselfish passer that looks to set up others. He finds shooters when they are spotting up around the arc. He is not afraid to kick it out after he gets a post touch. Dosmann had a smooth and athletic dunk on Saturday. In the last game of the night, Dominic had a huge basket late in the game to tie up the score. He was patient and efficient with a cut on a SLOB. He knifed through the D and put in a big bucket.
Erik Hedstrom Erik Hedstrom 6'5" | SF Alexandria | 2022 State MN (2022) |6-5 F| Alexandria – He was knocking down jumpers last night. Erik is a legitimate shooting threat. Hedstrom is a strong and physical finisher. I like the way he absorbs contact and finishes the play. He was tough on the O-boards and he scored points off put-backs. Alexandria had a nice win last night over the ECI Prospects.
Freddie Anthony (2023) |6-0 G| MN Heat Say/Spring Lake Park – He plays with good flow and has a nice feel for the game. Anthony is a smooth guard with solid handles. I like the way he penetrated gaps and probed the defense. He has plenty of potential and he should have a bright future.
Jack Manning Jack Manning 6'5" | C Thief River Falls | 2023 State MN (2023) |6-5 F| West Central United/Thief River Falls – He was very impressive yesterday evening. I loved his energy and enthusiasm. Manning has an impressive spin move. He has a soft touch when finishing around the basket. He has great feet. Jack is a skilled shot blocker. I imagine he has gotten quite a bit of interest from college coaches by now.
Jack Rosendahl (2023) |6-2 G| West Central United/Thief River Falls – He is a serious 3-point shooter. He has a nice stroke from beyond the arc. He shoots it with proper form and good feet. He looked great drilling 3’s from the corner.
Jalen May Jalen May 6'3" | SF Fargo North | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 F| ECI Selects/Fargo North – He was excellent on the offensive glass. He seems to always be in the right place at the right time. He finished well in transition. May is a quality finisher around the basket. Jalen is crafty and smooth. He is a smart player.
Kristen Hoskins (2022) |5-11 G| Alexandria – A Gopher football commit. He was the best player in the gym yesterday. Hoskins was head and shoulders above everyone else when it came to athleticism. He is a ridiculous athlete. It looks like he is jumping off a trampoline when he leaves the floor. His pull-up jumper is quick and smooth. Besides scoring at will on drives to the basket, he also knocked down a couple 3’s. He is masterful and changing speeds and keeping the defenders off balance. Hoskins was breaking ankles yesterday. His finger-roll finishes are ultra-smooth. He passes it well and finds the open man. Kristen Hoskins is a human highlight reel. He played a big part in the win over ECI last night.
Nick Carlson Nick Carlson 6'4" | SF West Fargo | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 F| ECI Prospects/West Fargo – He is a physical forward. Carlson works hard around the basket. He is great at getting two feet in the lane. Nick is a consistent finisher. He has great balance and power.
Paine Parks Paine Parks 6'3" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 G| ECI Prospects/Grand Forks Red River – He was the biggest, strongest, and most physical guard I watched yesterday. He has a great mid-range jump shot. His pull-up looks great when he is going to his left. Parks can also finish great with his left hand around the basket. Paine looked good with put-backs off O-boards. Parks can be a bully against smaller guards in the lane and around the rim.
Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND (2023) |5-10 G| ECI Prospects/Fargo Davies – Raymond is a skilled ball handler. He is all hustle all the time. He is a distributor and creator. Brown makes others around him better players.
Zach Kraft Zach Kraft 6'2" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND (2023) |5-11 G| Grand Forks Red River – He is the definition of a smooth baller. Zach is a cold-blooded 3-point assassin. I like the way he does the work before he gets the ball. He was looking good hitting corner daggers. His handles and passing ability are second to none.
