We were there the last day of action to see some thrilling games along with one of the best 4A vs. 1A games we will see this year. Here’s a look back at some of the best underclassman performers on the day.
Shakell Johnson – 6’1/SF/2019 – SB Adams – Johnson scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a really good game. He was active on both ends and looked for his shot routinely. He was aggressive in going to the boards and was a nice surprise to see. Johnson looked solid with his game and will only continue to get better.
Isiah Moore – 5’10/SG/2019 – Park Tudor – Moore has been on a shooting tear this year and I’ve seen it before, but in this one he didn’t really shoot the ball from deep. Richmond played him really well and limited his shot attempts but he was still one of the better underclassmen here.
Ricky Wedlow – 6’/G/2020 – Richmond – Wedlow started at the point for Richmond in the game and played really well. He made four threes and showed that he can run an offense. Only a freshman, he should be even better in the next few years with a little seasoning. Already an impressive player.
Brayton Bailey – 6’1/SF/2020 – Bedford North Lawrence – Bailey already looks like a solid player. He is built pretty well already for a freshman and will only fill out better. He is not very confident right now but that will come. He’s a role player at this time but by the end of the year he could become apt to score.
Jathan Ritter – 6’2/SG/2019 – Bedford North Lawrence – Ritter was the best shooter on the last day. He hit six threes and did it on both the pull-up and the catch-and-shoot. Ritter is a high volume scorer when he is on and he had 18 points in the game to lead all scorers. Ritter is a nice guy to have on your team because of the streaks he can go on.
