A 6-1 wing who can do a little bit of everything on the floor, Wagemester showed the ability to score from all three levels in Iowa Prep’s win over Chippewa Valley Select. He has a really nice mid-range game, showing that he can stop on a dime and elevate into his jumper, and he showed that he can create his own shot or score off the catch. Defensively he can defend multiple perimeter spots and he uses his length effectively.
2023 Makelle Taylor (Iowa Prep Platinum 16U/Prairie)
Another standout from Prairie, Taylor was one of the fastest players at the event end-to-end with the ball in his hands. He’s a good ball-handler who can break down a defense and get to the bucket, and he showed a smooth lefty stroke on a catch-and-shoot corner 3.
2023 Ian Mindrup (Iowa Prep Platinum 16U/Linn-Mar)
An active big man on both ends of the floor, the 6-3 Mindrup rebounds really well both inside and outside of his area, has good hands, embraces contact and is a solid finisher around the rim.
2023 Brayden Derksen (Iowa Prep Platinum 16U/Prairie)
A big, physical 6-3 post, Derksen is built similarly to former Cedar Falls linebacker and post player Jack Campbell. He’s not the same athlete as Campbell was, but he has a similar build and uses his strength and physicality to his advantage like Campbell did. He doesn’t shy away from contact, instead embracing it and looking for contact on both ends of the floor. He’s a strong rebounder on both ends who makes good, hard contact on his boxouts, and he has good touch around the rim.
2023 Colby Dolphin Colby Dolphin 5'10" | PG Kennedy | 2023 State IA (Iowa Prep Platinum 16U/Kennedy)
Dolphin was a key contributor for a really good Kennedy team as a sophomore, and his experience showed up in a big way, as he made several key plays down the stretch in Prep’s win. The 5-11 lead guard can both score and facilitate. He scored effectively from the mid-range and by getting to the rim, and knocked down some key free throws down the stretch. He’s a solid on-ball defender with active hands and quick feet.
2024 Aiden Heth (Iowa Mavericks Purple 15U/Cedar Falls)
The younger brother of former Tigers guard Jaxon Heth Jaxon Heth 5'10" | CG Cedar Falls | 2020 State IA , Aiden showed a lot of the same abilities that his older brother has, including some lights out shooting. He was dynamic off the catch in the Mavericks blowout win, knocking down 3 after 3 while moving off the ball and showing his quick release.
2024 Jailyn Buchanan (Iowa Mavericks Purple 15U/Liberty)
A quick 5-8 lead guard, Buchanan is a solid ball-handler and passer who does a nice job running the show for this Mavericks group. He has the ability to break down a defense with his handle and quickness. He’ll need to continue to add some strength to his frame to allow him to become a more efficient finisher around the rim, but he showed a nice-looking jumper, particularly off the dribble.
2024 Trey Williams (Iowa Mavericks Purple 15U/Liberty)
A long and rangy 6-1 forward, Williams runs the floor really hard, filling in the lanes and getting easy buckets in transition with his effort. He rebounds at a high level on both ends of the floor, and he even showed the ability to stretch the floor a bit, knocking down a pair of 3s in the second half.
