Indiana Elite Focus Premier 17U’s Dominate All Areas of the Game with a 50 Point Victory
In the opening game of the night, Indiana Elite Focus Premier 17U played outstandingly in every single area of the game. Ashton Johnson Ashton Johnson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne South | 2022 State IN was making plays for both himself and others, and it seemed like he just did not miss from the outside. His quick release and his smooth finishing ability made him an impossible matchup for the Wisconsin Dynasty. On the inside, Logan Gard Logan Gard 6'6" | PF Central Noble | 2022 State IN was an absolute animal. He has a ton of size, he plays with a lot of physicality, and his athletic ability allows him to make plays all over the court. He was very good on the glass on both ends and didn’t allow any easy buckets on the defensive end of the floor. Mason Baker Mason Baker 6'3" | SF Columbia City | 2022 IN made a real impact shooting the ball with a couple of nice step-back and catch-and-shoot jumpers.
Indiana Elite 2023 Survives a Tough Wisconsin Playground Club Team
Two high-powered clubs with a ton of Division One talent faced off in this one. Indiana Elite had a little bit more athleticism, and that is what led to their 15 point victory. Braeden Shrewsberry was lights out from the outside in this one as he had 9 of their first 13 and ended with around 20 for the game. JaQualon Roberts JaQualon Roberts 6'8" | PF Bloomington North | 2023 State IN also looked very good as he was aggressive to the hole, drawing contact, and making plays for others. He played with a ton of aggressiveness which let his game excel against a less physical Wisconsin Playground Team. Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN also had a great game as he is so smooth in transition and showed off a couple of beautiful step-back jumpers. For Wisconsin Playground Club, Colin Hardrick kept them entirely in this game. He easily had 30 points, and it seemed like he could just not miss from the field. He is a great athlete who can score from all areas on the field. Cal Klesmit helped out to keep the game near single digits for WPC by knocking in multiple threes throughout. There was so much talent in this one, and the game lived up to the expectations.
Grand Park Premier 15U Black Rolls Thanks to Inside Out Duo
In a game that everyone did something to lead them to victory, Grand Park Premier Black 15U made sure to not give 1NA 2024 a glimmer of hope. Michael Griffith was absolutely brilliant on the offensive end. He dominated the offensive glass which led to easy bucket after easy bucket. He also showed to the ability to put the ball on the floor, finish around defenders, and even throw down a monster slam dunk late in the ball game. Trey Buchanan also continued to set up Griffith inside all game. Buchanan is a solid ball handler who plays with physicality, and he was able to drive past his defenders and dish to Griffith or other open teammates basically all game. Asher Noland also looked very good for the 2024 squad as he was the main outside threat for GPP. He has all of the confidence in the world shooting the ball, and he is never going to hesitate to let one fly. He also got to the rim numerous times to use his silky smooth finishing ability to score inside. Ryan Clevenger and Nolan Swan Nolan Swan 5'10" | PG Tipton | 2024 State IN also capped off the win with some nice guard play which allowed players to get easy open shots. This is a ball club that is looking very good early on in the tournament.
Summit City 17U Survives With Lambert’s Clutch Play Down the Stretch
In one of the more exciting games of the night, Summit City Elite started off the game shooting the ball very well, but they got complacent throughout, and they eventually had to battle back to tie it up at 49 with just over five minutes remaining. However, this is where the show finally began. Aidan Lambert Aidan Lambert 6'3" | SG Snider | 2022 State IN did not score for a 20 minute stretch in this one, but he went to work and scored the next ten points for Summit City. He used his quickness and physicality to get past defenders and draw contact or finish inside. Then, once the defenders started crashing on him, he began dishing to his teammates for a couple of buckets late. Summit City would hold on 64-63 thanks to a last-second defensive stand. Other standout players for Summit City include Elijah Davis who struggled from forcing things early on, but he found his rhythm and knocked down a clutch three and got a few buckets inside. Ayden Ruble Ayden Ruble 6'2" | SG Leo | 2022 State IN showed good body control around the rim and had a couple of nice buckets at the rim as well. If Summit City plays as they did in the final five minutes of the game, they will be tough to beat. If they play as they did in the first 27 minutes of the game, they’ll be lucky to be in their games.
George Hill All Indy Holds on in a Chaotic Game over the Champaign Heat
In another game that came down to the final possession, George Hill All Indy had to comeback from down 10 to get back into the ball game. Amhad Jarrard Amhad Jarrard 6'4" | SG Mt. Vernon-Fortville | 2022 State IN had an outstanding game for GHAI, as he was able to use his length well, get to the hole, and throw down some monster jams to give his team the momentum. He also came up with three huge threes late to take back the lead. Javon Tracy played outstanding on the defensive end of the floor, moving his feet and really keeping the Champaign Heat guards in check, but he did struggle with some turnover problems on the offensive end of the floor. Armon Jarrard Armon Jarrard 6'2" | PG Mt. Vernon-Fortville | 2022 State IN also had a very solid day for GHAI getting to the rim and finishing with his next-level touch around the rims. Overall, this one was a very sloppy game that was poorly officiated (leading to 3 injured players for the Champaign Heat). Both of these teams have a ton of talent, and it was disappointing to see the game go down in this way.
