Tyler Smith – 6’2/PG/2017 – Northeastern – Smith is really starting to drive the ball well but his three-point shot he is pressing and it’s not really working well for him. However, that driving ability is becoming more creative and he’s more able to contort his body to get off the shot and still finishing it well. Would like to see Smith get back to basics a little bit but he’s such a big part of this offense and even on his bad days he is at the point where he can fill up a stat sheet.
Zach Callahan – 6’5/SF/2017 – Danville – Callahan looked quite a bit better this time around. He was more able to make plays faced up and was driving the ball well. Seemed to just have a much more aggressive mindset and when at the rim, Cathedral’s length and athleticism didn’t seem to bug him. He shot the ball a couple times and the form looked good, just would like to see him shoot it a bit more from distance. Would make a good interior forward especially if he can keep this strong of aggressiveness in his game.
Ramon Collins – 6’6/SF/2017 – Louisville Moore (KY) – Pounds is a big, strong wing forward who can play inside and out. Has a stellar frame with tons of strength. He has a nice perimeter jumper but can continue that touch into the mid-range. He is also really good on the low block where he can finish with his left hand over his shoulder or get inside position and finish with a dunk. Loves to play up and down but his ability to get things working on the inside really makes him a complete player.
Charles Wilson – 6’2/CG/2017 – Southern (KY) – Wilson is a long, lanky guard with a smooth jumper and handles that can keep him on the ball. Likely a fit for a smaller school but his length and athleticism to go along with his shot make him valuable. Has a little shiftiness to his handles where he can get by a defender on the wing. Showed a nice spin-move and floater finish. Defensively, he got after it and gave some pretty good energy. Has to be a little bit more disciplined defensively but just minor adjustments and his length could be a bigger factor.
Dan Black – 6’2/SG/2017 – Southern (KY) – Black is a long, lanky guard who is a little more of a shooter than his teammate Wilson but his handles aren’t as crisp. Pretty athletic and had a nice couple drives from the perimeter where he is really solid creating in traffic. Does a good job shifting and slashing between defenders. Will really need to add some muscle but his bounce and length could give him a chance to become a really good player at the next level.
Braxton Robertson – 6’5/SF/2017 – Henryville – Robertson is a lean wing forward who can play inside and out. Showed that he has the ability to post up guards and wings and make a play, typically a turnaround jumper. He is more of a wing, though, shooting fairly well from distance. His ability to face up and make plays in the mid-range allow him to create a few mismatches because guards really struggle to defend him and he’s a bit too quick for posts. Long term, his jumper could become a bigger weapon for him because he shoots a good percentage just not enough of them.
