Duncanville GASO: 2022 Standouts

<p>I had the opportunity to see a ton of talented Texas prospects this weekend at the Spring Duncanville GASO event. With the grassroots season now in full swing, teams and individuals are really beginning to hit their stride and show what they are capable of. With that in mind, here are seven standout 2022 prospects from the tournament:</p> <p><strong>Bryan Thomas | 2022 | 6'7'' Power Forward | Southern Assault Angel | North Crowley HS</strong> - Thomas looked great as a rebounder on both offense and defense. The North Crowley forward boxes out, goes up strong, and snatches the ball out of the air. Additionally, he displayed good mobility for his size as well as the ability to stretch out and knock down threes from the catch. </p> <p><strong>Austin Page | 2022 | 6'8'' Power Forward/Center | Texas Dynasty | Episcopal School of Dallas</strong> - Page was another productive rebounder in Duncanville. His work as a rim protector was impressive too. The ESD big man also showed that he can finish above the rim with a two-handed slam in his opening game of the event. He is someone to keep an eye on. </p> <p><strong>Xavier Williams | 2022 | 6'0'' Combo Guard | Texas Impact - Marty | Plano Senior HS</strong> - I got to see Williams a couple of times during the high school season. He was so good at operating within the flow of the offense, and he did exactly that this weekend. The 2022 guard scored with crafty jumpers from mid-range, attacked the basket for layups and floaters, and made some excellent passes as a distributor. </p> <p><strong>Grayson Ryan | 2022 | 6'4'' Shooting Guard | Texas Impact - Marty | The Colony HS</strong> - Ryan came out of the gates firing in his first outing of the weekend, burying shots from mid-range and behind the arc. He is a terrific shooter who gets himself squared up and doesn't hesitate when letting it fly. The Colony two-guard showed that he can hit jumpers from the catch or off the dribble. </p> <p><strong>Jalil Brown | 2022 | 6'0'' Combo Guard | Warriors Elite | South Garland HS</strong> - Brown put together a really strong all-around performance on day 3. He was disruptive on defense, forcing several turnovers. On offense, his game was very balanced. The South Garland guard drilled a three, was productive in transition, and smart as a playmaker. Brown is a talented two-way prospect in football, and the same is true on the hardwood. </p> <p><strong>Ben Johnson | 2022 | 6'1'' Shooting Guard | Texas Dynasty | Dallas Jesuit </strong>- Johnson's defense stood out to me when I saw him play during the high school season, and that was also the case this weekend. He got down into a stance and was consistently engaged on that side of the floor. His discipline on defense is worth noting too. Beyond that, Johnson is a solid three-point shooter who moves well off the ball, making him a great three-and-D guy. </p> <p><strong>Josh Black | 2022 | 6'2'' Shooting Guard | Houston Top Guns Navy | Thompkins HS</strong> - Black was outstanding from beyond the arc on Friday. He displayed deep range and great mechanics on his jump shot. The 2022 guard is a sniper from deep who thrived when operating as a catch-and-shoot guy out on the perimeter. He almost single-handedly kept his team connected after they fell behind early in their opening game. </p>
