The 2A South East Idaho Conference has long been a producer of quality basketball talent as a lot of teams hop the Utah border and play tougher competition in Salt Lake City or Logan. As a result, these teams are often more prepared for postseason games than teams in other conferences who play no out of state games. Continue reading for a look at some of the best players from the 2A South East Idaho All-Conference team.
Bryler Shurtliff Bryler Shurtliff 6'1" | SG West Side | 2022 State ID , West Side: Bryler did a great job of propelling his team to the state tournament before they hit a few roadblocks and lost two straight games at the tournament. Shurtliff averaged close to 20 points for the duration of the season and even upped his scoring average to nearly 30 points per game in the two state tournament contests. Bryler provided a headache for all teams this past season as he was an incredibly difficult matchup. His three point shot was ridiculously accurate and he got hot in a hurry against almost every team West Side played. Shurtliff is just as deadly at the rim and combination made him a scoring threat all season long.
Owen Teuscher, Bear Lake: Owen helped Bear Lake capture the 2A state consolation championship this season. At 6’5″, Owen proved to be a tough cover for most teams at this classification and he used his size to help him average nearly 13 points per game along with 6 rebounds per game. Around the rim, Owen was a great finisher with really solid footwork and patience. He is not afraid to kick the ball out to open teammates before re-sealing or gaining positioning to attempt and snag an offensive rebound. Owen’s contributions were one of the biggest reasons that Bear Lake was able to make a solid run at the state tournament and ultimately allowed them to bring home some hardware.
