The state finals are set. The games will take place on April 10 in East Lansing at the Breslin Center. Players have stepped up their games and are making history for their team and school. Some players that will play in the state championship games have seen their stock rise as prospects. Let’s look at 5 of those athletes that you can watch in the finals.

[player_tooltip player_id="1112374" first="Durral" last="Brooks"] (2024, PG, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)

Brooks doesn’t look like a freshman, both physically and mentally. He stepped into high school with the strength needed to be ready to battle. Brooks has solid handles and is a true playmaker. He’s a high IQ player that seems to have an understanding of the game that is well beyond his years.

[player_tooltip player_id="811109" first="Keyon" last="Menifield"] Jr. (2021, PG, Flint Beecher)

I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again - Menifield Jr. is, without a doubt, a D1 talent. He’s flat out one of the best players in the state. Menifield Jr. can absolutely control a game from the point and can play at any pace. The next level program that secures this young man will be getting a high ceiling athlete and one of the most underrated players in the midwest.

[player_tooltip player_id="611465" first="Kingsley" last="Perkins"] (2021, PF, Ann Arbor Huron)

I’ve been lucky enough to see Perkins play way more than a handful of times. On a star studded team at Ann Arbor Huron, he’s a critical piece to the puzzle. Perkins’ post defense and ability to create second chance buckets is so valuable. He’ll continue to have success with this formula when he plays at Lake Superior State next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="985658" first="RJ" last="Taylor"] (2023, PG, Grand Blanc)

Like most of the state, I’ve been very high on Taylor from the beginning. He’s not going to jump through the roof or have highlight dunks on ESPN. What will he do? WIN. Taylor is simply a winner. He will always put himself and his teammates in positions to be successful. Taylor is probably one of the most skilled passers in Michigan.

[player_tooltip player_id="863922" first="Brady" last="Titus"] (2022, PG, Tri-Unity Christian)

If you haven’t watched Titus play through the state playoffs, you’re missing out. There hasn’t been a team or player that has figured him out yet. It feels like, if he wanted to, he could score almost every time down the floor. Titus has shown a lightning fast first step and the ability to score from multiple levels.
