Evan Boyd Evan Boyd 6'2" | SG DeLaSalle | 2021 State MN of DeLaSalle. At 6-foot-2 Boyd stretched the defense scoring 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting. The Islanders passed the ball in a way that led to constant holes in the Hibbing defense and Boyd was a big part of that (five assists). I was also really impressed by his defense. Boyd would make for a great player in the local D3 divisions right now and the way he’s played the second half of his senior year, I see some potential for maybe a D2 roster spot in the future if he keeps improving.
Casmir Chavis of DeLaSalle. Chavis is a freshman but the early views have been very positive. He’s earned himself a role with the Islanders state semi-final rotation learning how to defend early and getting to the cup constantly. Had a dozen points in the Hibbing win. This is a scholarship player someday, it’s too early to say what that level may be but Chavis is a top freshman in Minnesota.
Cade Haskins Cade Haskins 6'6" | SF Delasalle | 2021 State MN of DeLaSalle. This was the type of game that makes Cade so dangerous. Hibbing could not contest his shots in any way. When Haskins cut to the basket off ball or when he scored in the post, his size simply scored over players. And when Haskins was hitting his five threes at the arc, even good Hibbing contesting defenders weren’t able to get a hand in the face of 6-foot-6 Haskins. Constant clean looks at the rim. Had 32 points, four rebounds, and seven assists on 9 of 13 shooting. Heck of a strong recruit for Dartmouth, they are basically getting a strong mid-major talent to the Ivy League.
Parker Maki Parker Maki 6'6" | PF Hibbing | 2021 State MN of Hibbing. I can certainly see Parker Maki Parker Maki 6'6" | PF Hibbing | 2021 State MN making an impact at BSU. At 6-foot-6 Maki will step into college with the agility at the four, with good strength, and solid agility. He’s able to do things facing up out of the post, Maki will score in active ways, he has the agility to defend NSIC fours, and Parker looks to be a player that will work to get better.
Ayden McDonald Ayden McDonald 6'4" | PG Omaha Central | 2022 State MN of Hibbing. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a player shoot the percentage that Ayden did (11 of 16 from the field) against this type of defensive pressure and positioning he faced. McDonald hit contesting threes, pull-ups off the separation move, and one handers on the move that were tough makes and he did it over and over again. McDonald is known for his passing and he totaled six assists (created about 13-14 open high percentage shots for teammates) but his ability to make 11 shots over contesting arms was very impressive. Ayden’s was able to get to his balance and maintain a composure/focus despite players allowing very little space. McDonald has division one offensive skills and he just had 28 points missing only five shots against some of the toughest defenders that he will ever face. One of the best individual performances you will ever see from a player who’s team was blown out.
Keijuan White Keijuan White 6'0" | SG DeLaSalle | 2021 State MN of DeLaSalle. DeLaSalle forced the Hibbing offense into a game long uncomfort getting the ball up the floor and starting the offense. White was central to this with his ball pressure forcing turnovers as well as forcing very poor initial passes in the offense that were 30 some feet from the rim consistently. White is one of the best athletes in his grade in terms of agility, lateral quicks, and bounce off the floor. A school that needs a ball pressure guard (wherever that is) should get a look at White in the upcoming DeLaSalle games.
Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN of DeLaSalle. Nasir scored 11 points in the win once again showcasing three things that I think will make him a division one player some day (he’s a six foot sophomore guard): 1) shooting range with consistency, 2) a quick first step attack dribble that is used off of separation or attacking a defender that’s not in position to move with his attack, 3) ability to handle at the one
