Isaac Bruns Isaac Bruns 6'4" | SG Dakota Valley | 2023 State SD of Dakota Valley (6’4 Soph Guard). Paul Bruns Paul Bruns 6'4" | SG Dakota Valley | 2021 State SD and Chayce Montagne Chayce Montagne 5'7" | PG Dakota Valley | 2021 State SD did a great job finding Isaac in space and after excellent off ball movement Isaac was unstoppable. Winner was able to defend a few DV spots but they were spread to thin and Isaac took advantage of the space give. Isaac scored 31 points on 13 of 21 shooting with three threes.
Connor Libis Connor Libis 5'9" | PG Dell Rapids-St. Mary | 2021 State SD of Dell Rapids-St Mary (5’9 Sr). Basketball fans all around the state of South Dakota tuned in to see this playmaker and Libis performed on the big stage. Connor scored 28 points and he did it going at the White River defense with the dribble. Shot 12 of 22 from the floor plus dished out six assists.
Tyler Prins Tyler Prins 6'3" | SF Sioux Falls Christian | 2021 State SD of Sioux Falls Christian (6’3 Sr Guard). Prins was the guy that really impressed me yesterday. When it comes to “that guys is better than I thought”, Prins gets that honor. He is so much quicker with the basketball than I think people realize. And Prins is a lot more agile/explosive than I think people realize. His size and quickness gets him to open spots that others can’t get to plus his quickness forces smaller players to have to defend him. Prins had 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting and that release is pretty. Four threes made pretty.
Dylan Prouty of Yankton (5’11 Jr SG). The highlights will show Matthew Mors Matthew Mors 6'7" | SF Yankton | 2021 State #82 Nation SD late game jumper and charge take that sent Caden Hinker Caden Hinker 6'6" | PF Mitchell | 2022 State SD to the bench but Yankton’s state title hopes are gone if Prouty didn’t have the game that all hoopers dream of: a hot shooting game in the state tournament. Prouty was “run and find the extinguisher” hot hitting seven threes and scoring 25. Speaking of fire, the Mitchell defense looked like they were doing an unorganized fire drill scrambling to try and locate Prouty.
Colin Rentz Colin Rentz 6'0" | PG Dell Rapids | 2021 State SD of Dell Rapids (6’0 Sr Guard). What Rentz does is control the pace of the game. And in giving Vermillion their first loss of the season, Rentz again controlled the tempo. Maybe the biggest thing Rentz did was collect ten defensive boards and then either push for a high percentage shot, or make Vermillion work. His decision and Rentz picked his spots well. Ten points, ten boards, five assists, his defense had to of forced at least six turnovers.
