The Favorite
Chet Holmgren Chet Holmgren 7'0" | C Minnehaha Academy | 2021 State #1 Nation MN of Minnehaha Academy
Maybe the biggest runaway winner for Mr. Basketball of all time. Chet is the national player of the year so yeah he is going to be your Minnesota Player of the Year. His incredible numbers and outstanding performances against top bigs in the state (Morgan, Townley, Paulson, etc) and players from out of state as well (this winter and back in the fall). The question now is, greatest high school player of all time in Minnesota? Chet has made his case. Good luck finding a guy who impacts the game both ways at the level Chet does playing against a tough schedule.
Top Contender
Will Tschetter Will Tschetter 6'8" | PF Stewartville | 2021 State #96 Nation MN of Stewartville
After a short stint on the bench in street clothes because of a wrist injury, the Michigan bound Will Tschetter Will Tschetter 6'8" | PF Stewartville | 2021 State #96 Nation MN is back on the court. Will is averaging 31 and 11 for a top ten team in Class AA.
My Current Final Five
At this point who do I think would join Chet and Will in the final five (from the list of ten that was announced today)? I would go with”
Andrew Morgan Andrew Morgan 6'9" | C Waseca | 2021 State #178 Nation MN of Waseca: A double-double average for the top ranked team in Class AA. Morgan – who is headed to North Dakota State – had 18 points,12 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks in a recent blowout win over ranked Marshall. Morgan also had 26 points and nine boards making 11 of 17 shots versus Minnehaha.
Francis Nwaokorie Francis Nwaokorie 6'7" | C Champlin Park | 2021 State MN of Champlin Park: Francis is averaging 19 plus points and 13 boards a game for the undefeated number one ranked team in Class AAAA. Just had a monster 32 point, 13 rebound game against Totino-Grace and then had 25 and 18 against Park Center! Headed D1 to UC-San Diego.
Joshua Strong Joshua Strong 6'0" | PG Champlin Park | 2021 State MN of Champlin Park: Can’t go all bigs can we? Usually I wouldn’t go two guys from the same team but Strong has been the best senior guard in the state. Strong is averaging 20 points, four rebounds, five assists, and three steals a game for the top ranked team in the state. Has had some rough shooting games as of late (33 points in last three games combined) but still leading his team to wins. Signed with UMD.
