Payton Woodard (Gideon): The 6’0″ lefty combo guard scored 24 points in the 61-55 victory over Scott County Central in the Class 1, District 1 championship game. The kid is tough and he plays with a lot of poise and confidence under pressure. He followed up that district performance with 26 points in Gideon’s 89-88 overtime loss to Delta in the Class 1 sectionals.
Justin Fuemmeler (Higbee): The 5’11” guard scored 17 points in the Tigers’ 61-31 victory over Community in the Class 1, District 10 championship game. He wasn’t through as he followed up with a team-high 22 points and four 3-pointers in Higbee’s 62-50 victory over Northwest (Hughesville) in the Class 1 sectionals.
Bear Bock (Palmyra): The 6’3″ wing scored 15 points in the Panthers 39-38 victory over Highland in the Class 3, District 6 championship game.
Derek Rocket (Higbee): The 5’10” guard scored a team-high 18 points in Higbee’s 61-31 victory over Community in the Class 1, District 10 championship game.
Corbin Axtell (Grundy County): The 6’0″ guard had 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists in Grundy County’s 74-60 victory over North Harrison in the Class 1, District 14 championship game.
Grant Redd (KC St. Pius X): The 5’6″ point guard scored seven points and ran the showed expertly in St. Pius ‘ 60-48 victory over West Platte in the Class 3, District 15 championship game. He hit a 3-pointer and sealed the game with several free throws down the stretch.
