[player_tooltip player_id="989264" first="Ty" last="Pence"] Was Batman & Andrew Beyers Was Robin in Victory

What an epic performance St. Joseph Ogden 2023 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id="989264" first="Ty" last="Pence"] put on to carry his team to the win. The 6’6” shooting guard was as good as we have seen him scoring at will from all three levels. Good frame with a solid combination of strength, skill, and toughness. Crisp ball handler which sets up anything he wants to do. Won on straight line takes throughout the night. Uses that handle to create space for his shot which he drilled from mid-range along with several from the volleyball line. Had another where he pulled up was fouled and still made the shot from three. Crisp and clean mechanics and always seemed in rhythm. Moves well without the ball to get open for threes, but also had a nice give n go for a bucket at the rim. Was dominant on the glass all night crashing with a purpose especially on the defensive boards. Finished with 39 points and 14 rebounds. Looked every bit a mid-major prospect in this one. His 2022 running mate Andrew Beyers stepped up when his team needed him. Knocked down three huge triples forcing the defense to not focus all their efforts on Pence. Also hit a pair of key free throws lane on his way to 15 points.

Undersized BCC Frontline Does Work

For Bloomington Central Catholic early on the storyline was the play of their 6’2”’ senior power forward Sam Tallen. Strong bodied and undersized post was insanely efficient converting dump offs one after another along with a handful of put backs on the offensive glass. He was a force in this game netting 22 points. Fellow senior big man 6’4” Andrew Hinderer displayed mobility on the interior and was a versatile defender. He had 6 points.

Three Quality Small College guards for BCC

Bloomington Central Catholic has a trio of guards that can play at the small college level. Millikin commit [player_tooltip player_id="995978" first="JT" last="Welch"] is the most well known of the three. High IQ guard that has the ball on a string and is extremely crafty in the lane with pullups and nifty layups. Went for 8 points. Casey Crowley has the most size at 6’1” with the ability to use floaters over the defense along with hitting a three for 9 points. Jadyn Ellison opened our eyes with his creativity and passing in the half court. Slick handles and passes well off a live dribble. He had 11 points. The best prospect long term on BCC didn’t play a ton, but watch for 6’2” lead guard Cole Certa in the future. Good size and scoring pop at the point. Hit a corner three in this one for all his points.
