Introducing Monday Morning Hot Takes! Going forward, this weekly article will reveal some of the hottest takes relating to DC Area Hoops.

New World Order

As we transition into AAU, it makes sense to begin previewing what to expect for the upcoming season. One of the teams we are most excited to see will certainly be New World. At the 17U level, they are absolutely stacked. [player_tooltip player_id="777061" first="Favour" last="Aire"] and [player_tooltip player_id="777065" first="Tyrell" last="Ward"] are a pair of borderline five-star prospects who are already being recruited by the highest level division one programs. [player_tooltip player_id="902006" first="Devin" last="Ceaser"] is a fast-riser that coaches will hopefully get an up-close look at. And [player_tooltip player_id="962796" first="Nate" last="Pabis"] is a sharpshooter that has become more athletic and will do all the little things to help them win games. [player_tooltip player_id="1049816" first="Ty" last="Williams"] is the biggest sleeper among this group. He is a dynamic point guard prospect who plays both ends of the court and should begin attracting multiple division one level suitors in due time. These are just a few of the upperclassmen prospect that the New World program will feature.

New World’s 2024 class is also tremendous. [player_tooltip player_id="1127315" first="Khani" last="Rooths"] of Georgetown Prep recently picked up his first offer from Georgetown. His classmate [player_tooltip player_id="1127317" first="Goap" last="Kodi"] also has a chance to be very good. [player_tooltip player_id="1127312" first="Jaeden" last="Mustaf"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1127311" first="Ty" last="Bevins"] are a pair of names to know from this group as well.

Big Man Renaissance

The post position is alive and well at some programs throughout this area. Gonzaga’s twin towers, [player_tooltip player_id="1049634" first="Will" last="Scherer"] and Nicholas Evans, have each had bright moments throughout The St. James Winter League. [player_tooltip player_id="1049847" first="Joseph" last="Mupoyi"] has improved significantly for the DC Lions (Carroll). And [player_tooltip player_id="957018" first="Amani" last="Hansberry"] has been the fulcrum of his team’s offense. Last but not least, [player_tooltip player_id="904679" first="Jacory" last="Wilkes"] of Thomas Stone and New World is a forceful paint presence that often goes overlooked but can play at a high level.

Lawson and Brown the Law Firm

Is there a more tenacious backcourt in the area than at Archbishop Carroll? [player_tooltip player_id="904663" first="Rob" last="Lawson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="904652" first="Cam’ron" last="Brown"] pressure the ball relentlessly. These guys have quickly built chemistry and routinely control the tempo of each game on both ends.
