Adam Rickman 6’3″ Borgia: The young wing was the MVP of the Union Tournament after leading the Knights to the championship last week. He showcased his excellent all around game in averaging 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Knights’ three victories. In the championship game against Pacific, he had 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and five steals. He is an athletic young player who plays with excellent activity at both ends of the court.
Isaiah Howard 6’2″ Plattsburg: A smooth combo guard with good size and a very advanced skill set at his disposal. He can create buckets off the dribble and drain long 3-pointers with equal effectiveness. In addition to being able to put the ball in the basket, he plays with a lot of poise and savvy. He made the All-Tournament Team at last weekend’s North Platte Tournament and followed up with a 20-point performance against a strong Mid-Buchanan team this week.
Corbin Axtell 6’0″ Grundy County: A talented lefty who I had a chance to watch in the Meadville Tournament last weekend and was very impressed with his skill set. His handles are solid and he already knows how to slow the game down and play at his own pace. When he wants to get by defenders, he will get to the basket or he can pull up for the 3-pointer. He will also hit you with a back cut for a bucket if you fall asleep on him. He hit 30 points in a victory over Northwest Mendon. He’s very crafty and mature for his age.
Justin Ray 5’10” Carthage: An impressive young point guard who forms a nice young backcourt with 2022 point guard Max Templeman, which will be strong for the next couple of years. Justin is a knock down shooter from 3-point range who will hit them from anywhere if he gets the time and space. He has solid quickness and he plays with the savvy of a coach’s son, which he happens to be. His father was formerly the head coach at Carthage.
