Now that many teams have begun to play their conference slates, a lot of great teams are rising to the top while the pretenders are being exposed. With this, a lot of great players are making a name for themselves and are looking to work their way up the rankings chart in the next round of updates. Continue reading for a look at a handful of games that were recently played across the state.
Lapwai vs. Clearwater Valley: Lapwai continued to show that they are one of the best teams in the state with a commanding victory over Clearwater Valley. Lapwai was able to seal their nearly 50-point victory thanks to a balanced offensive attack, and stifling defense in the second half. Clearwater Valley did not score in the third quarter and Lapwai only gave up 6 points in the final period on their way to victory. The Wildcats from Lapwai also did an excellent job of sharing the ball and their balanced offensive attack was simply too much for Clearwater Valley to overcome. Lapwai was led by outstanding performances from Kase Wynott who had 25 points and Titus Yearout Titus Yearout 6'3" | PG Lapwai | 2022 State ID who had 23 points to go along with 5 assists.
Highland (Craigmont) vs. Nezperce: Highland sealed a 23 point victory over Nezperce in a conference game thanks to their defensive effort and a great shooting night. Nezperce was not able to compete with the tough defense played by Highland and their turnovers ultimately led to their downfall. Neither team has had a stellar year thus far by any stretch of the imagination, but Highland will look to use this victory to create some momentum for the upcoming conference schedule. Highland was led by a career night from Lane Wassmuth who poured in 26 points, 10 rebounds, 8 steals, and 6 assists, as well as Ty Hambly adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cole Seiler and Jared Cronce both had 10 points in a losing effort for Nezperce.
