The 6’7 talent grew a ton in the last year going from around 6’4 and then added about 3-4 inches. With that, we saw his added strength while maintaining solid ball handling. He’s the type of guy who you don’t get too often in high school because their bodies develop slower with regards to height and weight.
That added height and strength has allowed him to be a matchup nightmare in high school games because there aren’t many with his physical makeup and he plays so much more like a wing than a forward with his driving ability that he’s just winning matchups left and right. To that point, it has allowed him to put up some monster numbers this season.
So far, the Woodlan (IN) standout has put up 69 points and 34 rebounds through two games this year. They have wins over Southern Wells and Angola to start the year. Woodlan has the makeup of a team that needs their best player to play like their best player and dominate. Reidy has a lot of that in him.
Joe, so far, has shown a willingness to attack consistently. He doesn’t take many, if any, plays off and he likes to control the play around him. He can get away being the biggest guy on the floor handling the ball a ton because he doesn’t turn it over or play out of control so that gives him more opportunities to score. While their first two games haven’t been against particularly difficult opponents, New Haven is up tonight and that will be the first game to see just how good he can be against more guys his size and talent level.
Colleges haven’t really gotten a chance to see Reidy play yet but it is going to be interesting come next spring to see if they decide to pull the trigger. His stock is way up because, honestly, he’s developed past our earlier projections. DII programs should be all over him already, DI’s will the second they can put eyes on him. The key now is keeping it up. Can he show that this wasn’t just a run of good luck and do it against some of the tougher teams on Woodlan’s schedule this season.
