Prep Hoops Illinois dives into what we saw from a variety of events during the fall months. We saw tons of basketball over the last few months and now we recap that. Check out our Fall 2022 Top Performers: Part 2!

[player_tooltip player_id="863587" first="Jalen" last="Quinn"] (Tuscola)

Event: Illinois Wolves Scrimmages

Quinn is one of the state’s top point guards in 2022. The central Illinois 6’3” guard was dynamic in a setting with some of the top prospects from Illinois on the floor. He won off the dribble consistently showing elite burst being able to finish at the cup with either hand. He is ambidextrous on layups and short shots. The natural lefty is a plus three point shooter especially when he gets his feet set drilling three of them in the scrimmage showing a sound stroke. High level passer that makes quality decisions with the ball and does a nice job at manipulating ball screens to get what he wants.

[player_tooltip player_id="863582" first="Jaden" last="Schutt"] (Yorkville Christian)

Event: Illinois Wolves Scrimmages

Schutt has a ton of high-major offers already and the 6’5” shooting guard showed exactly why in this setting. He did knock down some of his patented jumpers including several crisp pull ups. What stood out the most in this game was his athleticism and ability to score off the bounce. He got loose in transition several times for finishes above the rim including throwing down a lob. Also took it to the hoop with authority including a monster dunk late in the scrimmage. When defenders close hard on the shot he is more than comfortable with blowing by them for scores. Good passer for a wing that makes the extra dish when it is needed.

[player_tooltip player_id="863618" first="Dylan" last="Arnett"] (DePaul Prep)

Event: Illinois Wolves Scrimmages

Strong outing from the DePaul Prep 6’9” five man. Thick bodied post, but has solid mobility to go with it. He was crafty around the hoop finishing in traffic. Displayed good footwork when facing up handling it and drilled a pair of threes. Versatile post that rebounds in his area and can play inside/out.

[player_tooltip player_id="925183" first="Braden" last="Huff"] (Glenbard West)

Event: Illinois Wolves Scrimmages

What a showing by one of the top post prospects in the class. The skilled 6’9” four man from Glenbard West was absolutely dynamic with his all-around skill set. Huff showcased his ability to put it on the deck scoring off the bounce on euro steps and spin moves in the lane. Had a really impressive play where he took it coast to coast while going behind his back. Plus shooter that drilled three triples in this outing. Such a free and easy stroke. Crashed the glass for several offensive rebounds. Runs the floor with fluidity.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048724" first="Niel" last="Davis"] (Kenwood)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 1

Davis broke out this summer on the Prep Hoop Circuit with Old Gold. The long and rangy 6’2” two guard was outstanding all night at Stealth Runs. High energy and active player that gets on the offensive glass for put backs using his long arms to keep possessions alive. He was really good in transition splitting defenders slithering to the hoop. Like what he brings to the table defensively with his quickness and length.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048713" first="Kamryn" last="Thomas"] (Hillcrest)

Event: South Suburban Hoops Kings of the Court

The Hillcrest 6’7” small forward was tremendous all day long for his squad. Very intriguing prospect with a long and lanky frame to go with a smooth offensive game. This type of free flowing setting fits his game perfectly. He drilled an array of feathery jumpers from three with a smooth release off his hand. Deep range on his shot. Slick takes to the hoop in both the half court and transition weaving through defenders. Flashed some passing flair as well dumping it off a few times for dimes. Defensively his length played well blocking several shots and getting in passing lanes. Very bright future for Thomas!

[player_tooltip player_id="863630" first="Ethan" last="Ivan"] (Batavia)

Event: HIT Scrimmages

Ivan was very impressive throughout the night. He played in both the 16U and 17U scrimmages. The 6’6” face up four man spaces the floor with his shooting and handles it very well with a couple dribbles getting to the hoop. Even took it coast to coast once for a bucket. Runs the floor with ease which is an easy way for him to get points. Bouncy on the offensive glass and had a couple blocks.

Patrick Robinson (Oswego East)

Event: HIT Scrimmages

Robinson is going to see a massive jump in our 2022 rankings update on Monday. He showed some of the reasons why in this setting. Big bodied 6’4” two guard that can score from multiple levels. He is explosive with it in transition attacking downhill going coast to coast. Such a tough cover when he is coming right at you. Hit a couple mid-range shots, but wasn’t as effective from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049086" first="Sean" last="Molloy"] (Lane Tech)

Event: Hoops 4 Health 3 on 3 Fall League

This Lane Tech guard displayed a solid passing feel finding Van Gorp in both games. Also hit teammates on the move and dropped it off inside for layups. Had a straight line take off the bounce. His most impressive play was a steal on the perimeter that he threw a bullet pass to his big man for a dime.

[player_tooltip player_id="925232" first="Evan" last="Porto"] (Stevenson)

Event: Details Training

Porto has elevated his stock during these workouts. The Stevenson guard is a crisp ball handler that gets in the lane for layups and floaters. Solid passer in ball screen situations and is an active defender.
