The Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp is a great way to see the top Midwest prospects in the 2023 and 2024 class all together in one place against each other over two days. Prep Hoops took in all of the action. Here we dive into the camp with Pangos Camp: Top National 2023 Prospects Pt 1!

Jalen Hooks (Crispus Attucks, IN)

Hooks has the looks of an impressive prospect! The state of Indiana's top 2023 has positional size at about 6'7” and the ability to play all over the floor. A natural small forward he can play on the ball as well. Pushes it well handling in the open floor with ease. Got to the rim where he finished with explosiveness including a monster tip dunk. Frame that projects very well long term.

Marial Diper (Rock Creek Academy, IN)

At 7'0” Diper has a super thin build. All arms and legs at this stage. He is pretty athletic in the paint including a spin move for a score in the paint that was quite impressive to see his footwork at that size for such a young prospect.

Anthony Ball (Southport, IN)

Ball is a physical rebounder at 6'7” that snatched rebounds at a high rate throughout the camp. Finished with power in the paint. Had a spin move on the block and overpowered weaker defenders off the bounce. Even stepped out to hit a three. Solid post defender.

Kaden Brown (Grand Rapids Catholic Central, MI)

The point guard from Michigan opened our eyes in the two games we caught him on Saturday. Plus shooter that made shots from all over the court and has a good overall feel for the game with his creativity and playmaking ability. Pushes in the open floor and threw a few nice dimes.

Xavier Thomas (Brother Rice, MI)

Thomas is a thick bodied 6'5” four man that can let it fly from the perimeter knocking down an array of threes. Light on his feet and has quality length.

Caron Williams (L'Anse Creuse, MI)

Williams is a 6'3” two guard that brings strength on the perimeter and attacks off the bounce with power. Can also rebound for his position.

Malik Olafioye (Ecorse Community, MI)

This two guard from Michigan is an athletic wing that can flat out score! He is a three level bucket getter that has deep range on a pull up jump shot. Super athletic around the hoop splitting the defense for acrobatic finishes. Weaves in and out of defenders in transition. Athletic two guard that knows how to get it done in bunches!

Jakhary Towns (Godwin Heights, MI)

This 6'0” slender combo guard from Michigan had a burst with the ball getting though the defense in the half court and showed some range on his shot at times. Frame should allow him to continue to grow.

Curtis Williams (Brother Rice, MI)

Williams is a broad shouldered 6'6” forward that is impressive physically. Was excellent as a rebounder snatching boards out of the air in traffic. Used his power game to score around the hoop.

George Washington III (Christian Academy of Louisville, KY)

Washington started off the right way in the first game of the event. This rangy two guard has a silky smooth pull up game that he drilled from all over the floor. Stretched it out to beyond the arc with his free and easy release. Slick ball handler that also mixed in some scoop shots on drives.

Cyr Malonga (Evangel Christian School, KY)

First time seeing this 6'11” five man from Kentucky. He brings a brute strength that is beyond imposing for a player so young. Has some N'Faly Dante to his game at the same stage. Stands out most right now as a rim protector doing it against guards and fellow big men. Goes after rebounds aggressively at their high point. Offensively he has good hands in traffic and threw down several slams. Later in the day he even stepped out to hit a three. Nice outlet passer as well.

Jeremiah Johnson (Putnam City North, OK)

Johnson wowed us early in the fall when we saw him at the Brad Beal Elite Mini Camp. Great size for position already at 6'3” with the ability to be comfortable playing on and off the ball. Ultra smooth ball handler that gets to the rack with ease. That was the area he was most effective when we were watching. Winning off the bounce and weaving his way through the defense for scores.

Zander Baker (Epic Charter, OK)

Baker is a 5'8” small guard that was fun to watch. Flashy guard that pushes the rock in the open floor while drilling pull up jumpers with regularity. High energy guard that is also pesky on the defensive end with his active hands.
