Expert Analysis
Sam Duren | Prep Hoops Scout
The big man looked to be on a mission to atone for last year’s foul trouble that cost him playing time in this same match up. In the first half he was flawless, even hitting a couple three pointers. While on defense he shut down the paint and was excited when he switched out onto guards. Along with his scoring on offense, he had his usual pinpoint passing helped keep the offense humming in the halfcourt.
While foul trouble did plague him in the second half, the lead he helped built along with great play from his teammates delievered Del City the victory. The final minutes of the fourth quarter even allowed the big man the chance to show off while throwing down a hammer slam in transition to cap the win.

On Tuesday night we were supposed to see a top five showdown between Del City and El Reno in a potential 5A state tournament preview. The Eagles flexed their muscles and it turned into a one-sided affair as Del City would beat the visiting Indians 69-53 on Tuesday night. The Eagles did not mess around with El Reno on Tuesday and their star center

led the way once again. The OSU signee and top overall prospect in the state’s 2023 class would finish with 21 points and 11 rebounds as well as four blocked shots. Garrison has been a double-double machine for the Eagles when he’s on the floor. He proved that last week in the McGuinness Classic and he was back at it again in their big win over El Reno. Del City now has a week off before hosting Millwood on Tuesday.

made sure that they wouldn’t fall on Thursday afternoon. The Oklahoma State signee scored all 16 points after halftime. As Norman North made their comeback and made things interesting, that’s when Garrison started taking over to make sure the Eagles would move on to the semifinals. He was absolutely dominant in the paint, finishing with both hands and making it look easy. Garrison is one of the top rim protectors in the state. But he also stepped out and made a few stellar defensive plays on the perimeter, which was terrifying to witness. Big men should not move the way he did.

An absolute game changer on the court, Garrison makes the paint a no fly zone with his shot blocking and altering abilities. Another future Oklahoma State Cowboy, the physical Garrison helped Del City claim the 6A Class State Title as a sophomore. Then last year, he guided the Eagles to the Class 5A State Title Game, but foul trouble hampered him in their loss. Look for the big man to be on a mission come March.

signed on the dotted line with Oklahoma State earlier today as seniors start signing with their future schools. Garrison has been the top 2023 prospect in the state for a while now and we’re looking forward to him showing that this season. He was a double-double machine last season and also averaged quite a few blocks and was a nightmare for opponents when they tried to drive to the basket. Garrison is one of the best players in the state. He’s playing for one of the best teams in the state. We’re expecting a season where he puts the team on his back at times throughout the year and helps carry them. Garrison can impact the game in so many different ways.

, who has climbed up several national rankings to becoming one of the elite big men in the class. Garrison has always shown signs of being a dominant force in the paint but over the last twelve months, he’s developed more of that “killer” mentality and he knows just how dominant he can be on both sides of the ball and has played like it. He enjoyed an outstanding junior season and a better offseason, competing at the national level. Garrison leads a Del City team that is the heavy favorite to capture the Class 5A state championship coming into this season. We’re looking forward to seeing what other areas of his game he’s fine-tuned over the last few months.
