Prep Hoops AZ Top 250 Expo - Top 7 Standouts   The Prep Hoops Arizona Top 250 Expo was held Sunday, October 11th at Inspire Courts in Gilbert. There were 120 participants. Here is a look at the top seven prospects who stood out at the event (regardless of position).   6’1 CG Vincent Delano of St. Mary’s HS (AZ) - 2023 Delano is another young prospect who put himself on the radar with his performance in this event.   He’s a solid ball handler with an impressive pull-up game, both in transition and in the half court. He is comfortable playing on or off the ball and he moves well without it.   Delano can defend on ball and rebounds well for a guard.   He is making a name for himself as a guy who will draw a lot of attention moving forward.   6’3 CG [player_tooltip player_id="843737" first="Chike" last="Ezeonu"] of Seattle Prep (WA) - 2021 Ezeonu is a long and athletic combo guard with burst who has an impressive all-around game.   His best asset is his mid-range pull-up game. This is his bread and butter. He also can shoot it fairly well with 3 range and he is a solid driver who can get to the hoop and finish.   Ezeonu is a legit rebounder and a willing defender. He will play at the next level for sure- just a question of how high he goes.     5’8 PG LJ Ginnis of South Mountain HS (AZ) - 2022 Ginnis is an energetic and real athletic one-man with a pretty complete package at the offensive end.   His quickness and a nice first step allow him to be a very effective driver/penetrator on a consistent basis.   He has a knack and an ability for making the right pass at the right time and he runs a team efficiently.   Ginnis is a confident shooter with long range and he has impact on the other end as a solid on-ball defender.     MVP - 6’2 PG [player_tooltip player_id="859646" first="Tavionte" last="Jackson"] of Las Vegas HS (NV) - 2022 Johnson was head and shoulders above everyone else at this event. Anyone who watched could see that he was the top dog in the fight. He is a jet with speed to burn who makes a ton of plays in transition.   He is equally adept as a scorer and a facilitator/distributor and can create opportunities for himself and others. He is not a fun matchup.   He can shoot it with long range and he is a solid rebounder from the guard position.   Jackson is a big-time prospect who will have college coaches banging on his door.     6’5 G/W [player_tooltip player_id="809696" first="Jamison" last="Kay"] of Gila Ridge HS (AZ) - 2021 Kay is an athletic guard/wing who is a problem matchup for the opponent in a number of ways. He will hurt you on the break and in the half court with different weapons.   He’s a legit shooter (with 3 range) who takes good shots and believes every shot is going in.   Kay finishes well in transition pretty consistently and also has a mid-range pull-up.   He could help his cause by showing more at the defensive end, but he is a legitimate 2021 prospect.     6’1 CG [player_tooltip player_id="827041" first="Josh" last="McClanahan"] of Eduprize Prep (AZ) - 2022 McClanahan is a skilled combo guard who plays with a lot of confidence and gets things done.   He is a versatile all-around scorer who can make buckets at all three levels (perimeter, mid-range, at the rim).   While he is a pretty good decision-maker who can run a team, he seems to have more of a mind-set as a scorer. He is most effective with ball in his hands.   McClanahan will be on the 2022 radar for college coaches to give serious consideration to.     6’0 CG Anthony Turner of Higley HS (AZ) - 2023 Turner was part of a handful of young prospects in the 2023 class who stood out.   He’s a long and athletic combo guard who is very effective finishing in transition. And he has a solid mid-range game in the half court.   He’s a bonafide scorer who can shoot it well with 3 range and is an impressive driver with a good first step.   Turner has a lot of promise and is a legitimate Division 1 prospect.
