Saturday, October 17th I attended the 1st annual Dillon Brooks Invitational and Arizona Preps Tournament at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ. Many AIA teams were in the building plus some local top prep teams mixed in with Grind Session teams from out of town. I ended up watching nearly 25 teams.

A tough scoring point guard may be a little undersized but he is a tough customer. He will make plays for the team but he is a scorer. He will fill it up with threes off the catch or pull, tough downhill drives, mid-range jumpers and contact drives in traffic or get to the free throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386978' first='Jaydon' last='Hayes'] Willow Canyon

One of the strongest guards in the entire AIA. He uses his upper body strength and tighter handle to get downhill and seems to bounce off of the defender plus he can post up and back them down and quickly spin off of them. He will hit the mid-range jumper with high elevation and plays some of the lead role. He is due for a monster season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767770' first='Jordan' last='McDaniel'] Bella Vista Prep

An undersized scoring point guard is super fast and quick. He can single-handedly dribble past the entire defense to score with his yo-yo handle and his jet quickness. He will shoot the three off the catch or pull but he puts immense pressure on the defense getting to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2337276' first='Brig' last='Standage'] Mesa Mountain View

A bigger scoring guard is a straight bucket. He will score it with downhill drives, gets to the basket with a solid handle but likes to shoot it from the threes point line. He comes off of curls, screens and will pull-up from the three. He is also tough on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2457665' first='Viktor' last='Babic'] Perry

A bigger wing forward showed out versus the Bella Vista Prep EYBL team. He scores it every way with threes off the catch, jab step triples, dribble drives with his dominant left or right hand and once he gets momentum he will flush it down above the rim. He is slowly getting stronger and handling the pounding better.

[player_tooltip player_id='2173760' first='Keaundre' last='Morris'] Bella Vista Prep

The Saint Mary's commit is a natural scorer. He is a combo guard who can make plays unselfishly but he wants to put the ball in the basket. He shoots it easily from the three point line off the catch or pull and will rise up and pull-up from mid-range. He is also sneaky quick to get to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767427' first='Bronson' last='Hedges'] Campo Verde

A bigger scoring guard who can shoot it from the three point line with a pretty looking stroke. He will pull-up from mid-range and get to the basket with cuts off the ball and use plus body control. His pull-up from mid-range is coming in nicely and plays off of Tefteller and Kvamme perfectly.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386974' first='Nasir' last='Hailey'] Deer Valley

A super strong bigger defensive scoring point guard is a load to handle. He will carve out space and get to the basket scoring thru the contact with multiple and-1's. He will rip pockets with his long arms, quicker feet and physicality and take it the other way for a layup.
