During last season, Titus helped lead Lapwai to an impressive run at the state tournament after winning their district championship. In the upcoming season, Yearout will look to help lead the Wildcats again as their leading scorer and an all-around threat that will guide them on their quest for another district championship and a shot at the state title. Continue reading for a breakdown of Titus’ skills and abilities on both sides of the ball ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Defense: Titus is a high-energy defender for the Wildcats. He loves to pressure the ball and constantly forces guards to cough-up the ball when he applies a lot of on-ball pressure. Lapwai likes to run and jump on defense and he is constantly running through passing lanes and tipping the ball forward so that he can begin a fast break. He is a tenacious defender that never quits and he is in excellent condition that allows him to apply pressure throughout the game. Titus plays with a ton of heart and energy and he has the skills and knowledge to figure out offensive schemes so that he can disrupt the opposing offense’s flow. Yearout is a great rebounder that crashes the board on both ends of the floor.
Offense: Yearout is a baller. Last season, he averaged a staggering 29.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. An absolutely ridiculous stat line for a season of high school basketball. He has a great jump shot from the perimeter that he can shoot off the dribble, on the catch, on the move, and any other way that he feels like he is open. He is patient when coming off of ball screens and makes excellent reads for passes, finishes at the rim, or floaters in the middle. He is a great finisher at the rim, shoots the mid-range with confidence, and he makes great offensive reads and kicks the ball to the open man. Yearout flat out knows how to play the game and he is a rare offensive talent.
Overall: Altogether, Yearout is an exceptional player. On defense, he plays hard and pressures the ball constantly. On offense, Yearout does everything and never takes a possession off. Titus would make an excellent 1 or 2 guard at the next level.
