The one-day Top 250 Expo brought together some of the best point guards in the state. They kept their skills fresh and grabbed some bragging rights heading into the fall season.

There were so many good point guards at the Expo, in fact, that they could be divided into “KC Area” and “Kansas” groups.

Here were the top Kansas point men from outside KC at the showcase (listed in alphabetical order):

[player_tooltip player_id="889501" first="Rone" last="Smith"], Wichita Southeast:

The 6-foot Smith is a high-quality ball handler with a lot of athleticism. He loves to drive aggressively to the hole, where he has the talent and toughness to finish or get fouled, but he also has the awareness to find an open teammate. He showed off a nice midrange jumper at the Expo. With his quickness, leaping ability and aggressiveness, he can be a troublemaker on defense too.

[player_tooltip player_id="889463" first="Max" last="Alexander"], Buhler:

Alexander is the epitome of a scoring point guard. He has all the talents to guide an offense, find open shooters and run an offense. But he’s just got so much scoring ability that he usually winds up with a ton of points to boot. He loves to drive hard to up the court, then pull up for a jumper from anywhere, even beyond the arc. The 6-footer who was third-team 4A a year ago put up a ridiculous amount of points at the Expo.

Brevin Canady, Royal Valley:

The Royal Valley point man battled hard at the Expo to demonstrate what a small school baller can do. He showed the ability to rebound, keep the ball and push it up the floor to create havoc. He has long arms and a stellar crossover. He’s lanky but strong and pushes defenses aggressively. He tends to be in the shadow of junior [player_tooltip player_id="891912" first="Nahcs" last="Wahwassuck"] at Royal Valley, but he showed at the Expo he deserves a spot among the top point men in Kansas.

Ty’ren Miller, Wichita Heights:

Miller isn’t tall, but he’s solid. The 5-foot-10 senior showed off a lot of great drives to the hole, using his quickness and strength to get where he wanted on the court. Once he gets going to the bucket, he can be unstoppable. He is a fun point guard for others to play with because he is unselfish and has his eyes up court. And his ball handling talent creates opportunities for teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id="889520" first="Keegan" last="Harrod"], Maize:

A point guard who can shoot it from deep. Harrod isn’t real tall, but he’s got great quickness. He is good at spotting open shooters and facilitating offense. He can drive the lane and kick the ball out. But if you leave him, even for a second, he showed at the Expo he can make you pay.
